Supercard DS One nonSDHC-2GB-Black DS Lite

Devil_Spawn

i know 3 people who wouldnt have bought a ds if there wasnt such thing as a supercard...

bitblt

Make that 4 people. :)

The first DS I purchased was for my daughter because she wanted Nintendogs, Mario 64 and FIFA. I didn't get myself a DS until I started reading about passme+supercard.  I've been using flash cards, mods, and add-ons since the eighties. It's kind of become a tradition for me.  I remember the Supercharger for my Atari VCS (2600), and EPIX Fastload and Final Cartridge III for my C64. To name a few.

Interesting...

I probably wouldn't have bought a DSL is not for SC.

Back to the laws about it, the CD to tape thing was a good idea. But it's a bit different... in order for that to work, I'd have to first buy the CD, then download the tracks, then convert it to a tape through the computer. I'm not sure exactly how smart his dad is... but he likes to "research" things, and if he finds that law he wont let him buy it.

According to Carl (my friend), if he downloaded a game, his dad would analyze it. But there's always just the "this game is a homebrew though" lie I guess.

Quote from: "socket"Yeah, It can run neat homebrew apps.  Like really neat stuff.

Yeah, show him Tickle Girl, that'll surely convince him there's a worthwhile purchase just for homebrew

Gleasonator

Sounds interesting again... but not enough to ask about it.

peep my "isp letter" thread.. i dont think the law even knows the law anymore

Devil_Spawn

well, judging by the amount of people that use this forum, and the fact that nobody has been sued/jailed or something, i dont think its likely that something gonna happen. but who knows???  :?

My understanding is ROM's are only legal if you backup the game yourself using your own methods. D/Ling roms from a site does not constitute a backup of your own game and is thus illegal. So if you have your own way to backup games your ok according to the law. Although with DMCA rules now it might be different.

As for the CD example that works since music is played over analog speakers, and since you can just record that with a mic, it bypasses any copyright issues as long as its personal use since you are recording the sound and not the digital copyrighted part. This is how all music media formats ever can be technically bypassed. However you need a really nice speaker setup and mic.

Devil_Spawn

what about ripping an mp3 from a cd???

Perseid

Ripping a CD you own is completely legal.

Devil_Spawn

i knew it was, i was just reading what pirc said, and surely ripping the mp3 keeps the digitally copyrighted part, but im probably wrong xD

Yeah you are allowed to rip your own MP3's. Sorry if my wording is off, I'm just saying if there is some new audio media format that won't allow you to rip your own music, it's always bypassable by the digital to analog recording.

That is not true.  I have believed that for the longest time, but then this was only a rumor.  ROMS ARE ILLEGAL NO MATTER WHAT, even if you own a hundred copies of the game.  There is no rule allowing you to use roms, whether you have it for a short amount of time or you have the actual game.
