has anyone tried this out? specifically on the nano, i got one recently for $50 and want to try the video player out on it and wanted to know if anyone here has tried it successfully

Works well, but videos take up lots of space as ipodlinux will only play uncompressed avi's. iboy is kinda fun, but the controls suck.

I installed Linux and GameBoy emulator on my old b&w ipod. Better to get a IPAQ with Windows XPe or even a Palm runnin on a XSCALE overclocked cpu ( 800mhz ).
