Ok, yes I am asking this dumb question.  It occured to me that I should be able to use the SCL Rumble as a rumble pack, but when I try this with my "official" copy of Metroid Hunters the pack is not recognized as a DS Option pack... so what gives?  IS rumble only supported on the "emulated" games?

currently patched games on the sc work, the irp system is currently the only way to get proper rumble. however maybe in fututre firmware updates it may become possible to use it as a real rumble pack

As Devil_Spawn said they currently only have one game (Metroid Pinball) which has true Rumble Pack support. They have a patch which you use on your ROM file which enables the rumble. They are working on the patches for each game that has Rumble pack support (6 games I think) and they should have them ready soon. You can download the Metroid Pinball IRP patch via the SuperCard website.
