There seems to be a problem with the new firmware... I use DSO 2.2 and edit txt. documents often on DSO. Also, I have skinned my Supercard menu using arcc's guide.

After reading this stuff, I'm kinda reluctant to update my firmware. Anyone else think likewise?

I'm using 2.57 / 1.70 on my SuperCard Lite Rumble and Ouendan is definitely fucked up.  The game takes about 30 seconds "loading" a stage, when it previously loaded them nearly instantaneously. Also, there's some weird scratchy audio when the game brings up the map screen for you to select a stage.

Nothing major, but worth reporting nonetheless. I'm going to try putting 2.56 on my SCR Lite and see if that fixes it.

^ thats strange because that was what used to happen to me, when the new patcher came out i decided to mess around with the settings to see if i could get rid of the load, i think i disabled patch catridge access and enabled practically everything else. now the game takes a bit longer to boot up but theres no load to a stage.

Quote from: "liquidnitrogen"yeah. you can use fatsort... the menu on the supercard though will list it in reverse alphabetical order...

maybe the author of fatsort could have a function for REVERSE ALPHABETICAL ORDER?... that.. would be nice.. heh

Just wait a few more days

You'd think there would be a proper README with each release by now telling us what has been "fixed" or improved. Then we could list what has been "borked" and hopefully the world would be good again....

You'd think :(

there is a list on the supercard website telling you what has been improved in the release

Firmware v1.7:
# Game list changed, the newest game will be displayed at the first position.
# The main menu of CF, SD, Mini SD, Micro SD versions have been changed as SuperCard Rumble series..

Software V2.57:
# The I/O system of NDS games has been redesigned, it's fast than before, increase the NDS games compatibility.
# Added NEW DMA(fast reading option), increase the speed of reading flash memory card, increase the NDS games compatibility.
# Fixed the Rumble Series can not run IQUE games, Fix NDS games 0472, 0286 balck screen bug.
# NDS game 0252 need high speed flash memory card, so SD, MiniSD version sometimes will halt in the game, but CF, MicroSD, Rumble Series seldem halt in this game.

So far, firmware 1.7 is working fine for my SClite.  The same can't be said about the new patching software though.  Most of the games I've patched with 2.57 will freeze or crash, or at least have some strange glitch at some point.  The very same roms patched with 2.56 work perfectly, using all the same patching settings (no restart, no DMA).

Some of the problems I've had with the new patcher:  Ouendan and EBA crash at the beginning of some songs.  Yoshi's Island DS crashes at the title screen.  Star Fox and Meteos have bad sound corruption.  Mario vs. DK 2 loads WAY slower.

That's all I've tried so far, but it stays pretty consistent with the new patcher.  I guess I'll be sticking with 2.56 for now  :(

I've had zero problems with the new patcher.  Which options are you using and are you using the compatibility list at Dualscene as a guide?

I hope the Supercard Team releases a new, fixed firmware. But.. that's not very likely, is it?

Jimmyjangles

I am using the compatibility list as a guide.  The only option I always turn off no matter what is "Enable Restart" since that always gave me problems and I don't use that feature anyway.

But the thing is that so far all my games patched with 2.56 work great, while the same games patched with 2.57 have problems.  It's no big deal as long as my games still work, but they may eventually release a new firmware or something that will require the new patcher, so I hope it won't have these problems anymore.

This is probably a stupid question, but you are patching the original ROMs, not the patched ROMs you already patched with 2.56, right?

Steve

Jimmyjangles

Yep, always the original roms  :)   I knew somebody would ask that after looking back at my messages.   That's my bad, I guess I do tend to word things kinda vaguely sometimes.

Works great on v.170 firmware, just tick the "Invert Sort" option

Man, I am not having any of the problems any of you are having with my SuperCard miniSD and Lite and the new firmware/software.

hI,

I am also having problems with the new firmware as when i add a few roms at once some roms create 0kb files.
I really think the fix was useless and has just caused more problems then with 2.56.
Just my 50 cents sorry.

Cheers Shane
