Everyone is talking about how this update fixes slowdown issues, but I've never experienced slowdown on any game! I've got an original AC:WW Cart, and it seems no faster than when I run it on my supercard... Is it only the Mini and Lite models that suffer from slowdown? Cos i'm still using the regular old SC-SD model.

If I'm wrong, and I have been playing slow games all these years, does anyone have a good test example so I can try it out and see for myself? Any ROM thats noticably faster on SC-SD than it was before?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

I have an Supercard lite micro. I have about 40 roms and i only experienced slowdown on 1 game........

DBZ supersonic warriors. I just repatched it with faster gameplay and it fixed it no sweat. I haven't had a problem ever since.....

The micro-sd and Compact Flash models are the fastest, Regular and Mini-SD have the most noticeable slowdowns.

When animal crossing asks you to 'touch to begin' (or whatever it says), touch the screen then look closely at the writing that appears. Notice how it kinda lags as it renders? Also, when you leave the shop, try and run away from the door as soon as your controls will allow, and notice how everything becomes sluggish for a moment. To be honest, with Animal Crossing the slowdowns are barely noticeable.

More noticeable examples: The FMV intro to Castlevania is practically unwatchable on slower SD cards, and Tony Hawk (the first one) lags slightly every couple of seconds if you're moving.

You downloaded the old version. You need to get the new version which has the date from the next day. The old version, from the day before, has bugs and won't use saves.

And Chris9620 I can't believe you have never notice slowdown Animal Corssing!? I have a 150X ATP ProMax miniSD and still get a tad bit of slowdown but since using the new firmware its gone. Its like the other user said on the text when the music is playing and you press start the text will lag. Also if you enter a house and while exiting hold down and the run button you should notice a small pause for a second once you're out. If you compare it to the real gamecart the lag is just not there and its runs smooth, don't fear as once you do the update and enable DMA it now does the same! Tony Hawk can show signs of slowdown when the music is playing and you are riding around. And the Castlevania test can also go from a 3/4 to a 4/4 or even a 5/5 with this update!

But you probably won't notice the update on the Lite models as they already had damn near perfect memory bandwidth to begin with!

well, it's subtle, but its there. I updated last night, repatched everything, etc. Animal Crossing is (just) perceptibly smoother. Very much worth it in my opinion. 99.9 is still better than 99.

Has anyone tried Starfox from the SD/CF yet, instead of loading it to SC ram? Is it fixed?

And is Mechassault now broken with the new firmware/patcher? If not, what settings?

Quote from: "dai_uk"I posted earlier,

Animal Crossing -  SC CF works with Position CF, Save CF, Trim, Patch cart - high, faster play game

seems quicker than last time I tried it (a firmware or 2 ago) when you had to put position to SC or it went really slow when opening menus and leaving / entering buildings.

A poster here mentionned DMA on this game, if I enable DMA the game freezes and the music stuttuers on the title screen.

Did you get DMA to work ? if so what settings did you use, there are so many now that trying every combination is a headache!

have you found the right combination? im also using sc cf and when i upgraded my firmware and sc software, i experienced the same in acww...

@FifthE1ement, i downloaded the upgrade again from the sc site after your reply......

I have always ran Star Fox from my microSD with my SuperCard Lite and it works fine. I used all patching options even trim Rom, faster gameplay, DMA, enable patch access and restart all without any problems. And mech assault works fine without DMA and restart.

Cheers kalabaw!  :D

Enjoy,

just updated my sc lite, everything seems to work fine so far :)

@FifthE1ement , its not yet working....

@kalabaw

Re Animal crossing CF,

I got it working, CF position for game and save, Trim, Faster Play Game, NOT RESET, Patch Cartride access - HIGH, no DMA

definitely faster than from my CF in older version, never noticed it on any other game (except Pro Evo which may just be slow anyway as no one else replied!)

Excellent, The Legend of Spyro - A New Beginning. On my SC CF running so fast now with DMA enabled. Cool, original Spyro - Shadow Legacy is still very slow. Kepp up the good work Romman.

kalabaw

Thanks dude! now its faster.....

FifthE1ement,

I didn't mean to be "aggressive" to you in my earlier post.  I was just erked at your use of the word "flawlessly" because compatibility is my main concern.  Sometimes a little slowdown helps me in a game like the old SNES Gradius III. :D

When a new patcher was released a week after the Hawk game didn't work I had my hopes up.

BTW did this release fix Danny Phantom?  I have it patched 2 versions ago, so mine works, but last version it was broken.
