Yes, yes, compatibility. What about battery life? Does the firmware update change that any?

I posted earlier,

Animal Crossing -  SC CF works with Position CF, Save CF, Trim, Patch cart - high, faster play game

seems quicker than last time I tried it (a firmware or 2 ago) when you had to put position to SC or it went really slow when opening menus and leaving / entering buildings.

A poster here mentionned DMA on this game, if I enable DMA the game freezes and the music stuttuers on the title screen.

Did you get DMA to work ? if so what settings did you use, there are so many now that trying every combination is a headache!

Anyone has the firmware 1.70 for chinese microsd?
The download link on the chinese site stops at 4kb and gets a damaged zip file.

This update improves performance across the board for all models allowing all DS games to run flawlessly on any model SuperCard. The G6/M3 team did this a while back and I knew they SuperCard team was working on an update to improve performance and here it is! This update makes the SuperCard line the fastest and most compatible Slot 2 flashcart on the market, it updates the SC interface and corrects a few other bugs. The new rewritten card reader code from the Rumble Series works wonders improving all game lag and the DMA option makes it even faster! This is very good news for all SuperCard owners!

Excuse me Mr Supercard Guru, but this humble peasant must question your Guruness.

I will start with your first sentence "allowing all DS games to run flawlessly on any model SuperCard."  Wrong!  Tony Hawk Downhill Jam isn't working on any of them.

You say it "updates the SC interface and corrects a few other bugs."  What bugs?  Reverse alphabetical order listing?

You say the "new rewritten card reader code from the Rumble Series works wonders improving all game lag and the DMA option makes it faster."  Works wonders?  I never remember having any lag problems with my CF that a new firmware and patcher didn't fix.  DMA option makes it faster?  What you want faster than the original cart?

Why are you so aggressive towards me?

Tony Hawk doesn't work on any Slot 2 flashcart and what I meant was that now all of the DS games run without any lag or slowdown problem no matter what type of flash memory you have.

The bugs that were fixed were referring to the Rumble series and iQue, some game issues were fixed, and in the newer updated release they fixed long file names and old saves not working with DMA.

And yes the new SuperCard firmware and software improve performance across all SuperCard models. If you have ever played Tony Hawk or Animal Crossing on anything but a SuperCard Lite you would know what I am talking about. They are now using the same memory bandwidth technique that they have been using on the Rumble series will all models that improves performance and they have also added a DMA option for even more performance.

I think SD variants suffer more lag than CF.
It's because of the CF open interface that allow unnamed developer create program that access to CF in highest possible speed. Meanwhile, to access higher speed on SD, you have to pay for royalties. Else, you only got MMC-like speed on SD. CMIIW.

I totally agree with you that the reverse sorting issue is pretty ridiculous.  That wasn't a very well thought-out feature for the SC team to implement, that's for sure.  Despite all of that, keep in mind that just because a certain bug was not affecting your device with your settings and games doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.  I follow the changelogs of very many software projects, and there are all sorts of minor bugs that get fixed that which worthy a new release.  Personally, I am happy that I can now return to the main menu in Puyo Pop for the DS, thanks for the new firmware :)

The SuperCard DOES have the highest compatibility for NDS games than any other slot-2 cart, although the current state of the latest Tony Hawk title is frustrating.  I'm confident that such problems will be resolved soon.

I tested both my SuperCard miniSD and Lite models with the new software and firmware and I am quite pleased. I would say there is about a 10-20% increase in performance on the miniSD model as the SuperCard Lite is already fast enough where you can't tell the difference. I patched over 50 games with DMA and the only ones that had problems were the ones below. Other than that Animal Crossing showed significant speed increases on the miniSD model during the press start opening and when leaving and entering houses. The speed increase was also there for Tony Hawk and improved the Castlevania video a bit. This was one hell of an update that made the SuperCard line even faster than it already was. With a little testing you'll notice the speed difference as well, especially if you use an SD model.

It doesn't list in reverse alphabetical order.  It lists with the most recently modified (ie the latest game you added to the card) at the top.  If your games are in reverse alphabetical order, it's because you wrote them to the card in alphabetical order.

I was using Supercard Mini-SD. Settings were:
Saver: SD
Rom Postition: SD
DMA: Yes
Faster Play Game: Yes
Patch Access: High
Trim: Yes
Restart: NO NO NO NO NO, terrible feature, always off! :P

The Nintendo logo flickers slightly when you boot the game, then everything is fine, and a little faster than when DMA is disabled. It's still not as good as booting from the supercard RAM though, but that takes ages so I never use that feature.

Maybe it's just the CF version that has your crashing problem? CF seems to be a little less stable than other cards with certain games (Starfox, for example, never worked perfectly on my CF cards but was fine on MiniSD)

It's a good update, but I wouldn't go that far. Animal Crossing still exhibits the occasional random crash and slowdown, Metroid Pinball still slows down more than the original cart even when using DMA mode. Starfox still has to be slow-booted, and Tony Hawk Skateland/Castlevania intro are still slow on non-CF cards.

Don't get me wrong, it's (mostly) a good update and I'm grateful for Supercard's continued efforts. I just don't think the word 'flawlessly' can be applied here.

I never had problems on starfox with my CF, and I didn't use slow boot - completed it at least 6 times maybe I'm just lucky with my card!

Right. these games have problems with DMA. They get white screens when patched with it. But the other ones really do get a noticeable performance boost. :)

Did you ever pause and choose 'exit game'? - that's when the error occurs. White screens.

@ kalabaw - probably not, I think the new firmware is needed to use DMA patched roms.
