there is a DEFINITE improvement in speed, however i am beginning to wonder if it is dma or not =/

it is part of the patcher and not the firmware as an old and new patched on on 1.70 definitely show differences, me +brother have identical scsd's+sd cards, i guess i cud make a vid if u wanted

Hmm something is messed up big time with this release.

It seems if you patch Animal Crossing with the new software (and use the new firmware of course), the game is unable to recognise save files made with earlier versions. Bloody annoying because the new DMA feature completely removes ALL slowdowns in the game on my Supercard MiniSD. So I have to choose between decent game speed, and starting again :( Grrrrr.......

The reverse sorting thing is dreadful, too. It was fine how it was, at least I could use fatsort then...

sorry but the link doesnt work is there another way?!

liquidnitrogen

wow, so should i patch all my games again with DMA?

I wouldn't reccommend it unless you want to risk losing saved game progress. Back everything up first if you must do it, some of my games when repatched are not recognising older saves.

you can't use fatsort now?

liquidnitrogen

yeah. you can use fatsort... the menu on the supercard though will list it in reverse alphabetical order...

if fatsort makes it go

a
b
c
d

supercard menu goes

d
c
b
a

---
i guess the most simplest way is to move them to a folder on the card... then drag each file in reverse order of what you want it to be on the card...

so put a b c d in a folder

then drag it back into whatever folder you want (maybe the root?) in d, c, b, a

and tahdah...

----

maybe the author of fatsort could have a function for REVERSE ALPHABETICAL ORDER?... that.. would be nice.. heh

----

results of my testing for games i do play in DMA

127 phoenix wright  - save works ok
366 tetris U - save works ok
367 metroid prime hunters - game doesnt load - white screens
540 starfox command - game doesnt load - white screens
556 megaman zx U - game doesnt load - white screens
577 pokemon pearl - game loads - save is corrupted
626 phoenix wright 2 - game loads - save is corrupted
655 elite beat agents - save works ok

hopefully someone can create a Supercard old version save file -> new version save file.... wonder if these new save files are able to be loaded back into the original cartridge!? heh

on the chinese supercard website it said there was a bug with the supercard new firmware release and it was taken down. so i suggest that noone take this firmware upgrade seriously.

liquidnitrogen

whoa really? ah well.. upgraded already... i guess i like the new interface cuz i wasnt able to skin the supercard lite...

kvnchg

I have the chinese supercard lite, has anyone tried upgrading a chinese supercard lite with the english firmware? I have wanted a English interface for awhile.

I've upgraded as well and things seem to work ok so far.  Seems like the new DMA option is what's causing the most problems, so I guess I'll just skip that option for the time being.

But if I do start having problems with the firmware itself, is it possible to downgrade to 1.63 again?  Would it be as simple as running the 1.63 firmware file, or is there some special trick to it?

Zoink

Foldersort does the trick on sorting the files and folders the way it was on v1.63 and below.

Download FolderSort Here

Just use the Name reversed as sorting method when used with v1.70 firmware.

Zoink

using supercard SD and MiniSD, I upgraded to v1.7 just fine, and I was also able to downgrade back to directly v1.63 (bin file) without any problems or tricks.

I have not tried it with a supercardlite though.

Hmmm Folder Sort is ok, but really slow compared with FATSort, it takes forever to sort out 2 gigs worth of stuff.

Gleasonator

.nds files load slower.... but I like the new interface. I hope that "bug" thing will be fixed by the new firmware upgrade. Maybe that's what it was though, the files load slower.
