What is the difference between different branded MicroSDs? Is it different loading periods? (I'm a noob)

Now it is $26.99 ($18.99 after $8.00 Mail-In Rebate) plus $4.99 shipping. I am torn between this and the kingston 1GB microSD deal in that other thread. The kingston deal saves more money, yet I heard that it lags. The A-DATA is supposedly one of the fastest microsds, too.
