Hello everybody:

Is it possible to flash a DS in an controlled (reversable) not working state?

Why; well my brothers DS touchpad was broken and he send it in for repair (old phat ds). He received a brandnew ds lite as replacement. So I would like to do this also. (Fake a problem)

i dont even think you need to fake it. just say you have a problem with your ds. if they cant find one, i think they still send you a replacement.

Well, im not suggesting you do this at all but you could try unflashing it then run the flashing software, get 3% through it, and turn it off. Bricks your DS and it wont turn on. Of course, DONT DO THIS, its fraud so yeah...

open your ds, pull out one of the ribbon cables just enough to break contact but leaving it in the socket. when you try to power on, the screen still connected will flicker and the unit will turn off again.

this way, at worst they'll return your ds without fixing it and you can just repair it yourself as opposed to permanently bricking it.

for the record, i hope you break it and end up with nothing :wink:

Thanks for the answers.... I'm thinking to do the ribbon thing. Then I can undo the damage.(If it is sent back). And if it breaks down, I still have 1 year warranty.

But fraud? Since when is the Supercard legal? Oh yeah, we only run homebrew on it

Install old flashme and run some wfc games.

It will brick your ds but you will be able to recover it with recovery mode.

The best solution: Be honest and sell off your DS Phat. Gather cash and get a DS Lite fair and square.
