Damaged "A" button?

My A button sometimes doesn't respond right away lately.  I'm pretty sure it's a direct result of frantic level 20 Tetris DS playing

It *usually* works fine.  But when it doesn't respond right away and you mess up your game or something, it's really irritating.  Do you think this would be enough justification to get a replacement?  I'm definitely still in warranty.

Does anyone have any experience with exchanging Lites in Canada?  I bought mine online through ebay, but the guy I bought it from was good enough to include the original sale receipt and box with all contents from Electronics Boutique.  It was in Montreal or something...

So if it's a good enough justification, how would you recommend I proceed?  I don't know how reasonable EB is about returns, let alone returns from other stores.

How long does it take it to respond? I'm sure something's just loose, but if your not up to opening it then you should send it in. I would.

By the way, word on the street is that the first shipment or so of DS Lites had a problem with A and X buttons. When playing New Super Mario Bros, the DS would reset. I wonder if this is related.

You should just call Nintendo and get them to send you a replacemnet unit. I did this not too long ago. They have excellent customer service. I briefly explained the problem (mine was a bad pixel), and after maybe a 5 minute conversation they had a new unit ready to ship. I got the replacement in three days, and they supplied the packing slip to send the old one back. From now on I will go this method as opposed to store return...the unit they sent me was minty perfect :)

Cool!  I wonder if I could get a black one out of them!!! :D

Thanks for the advice, I'll call Nintendo on Monday.

Woot muffins!

I had to specifically request they send me another DS and then I send mine back, it's called "advance replacement" or somesuch and requires a credit card, in case anyone else is interested.

And they don't send a brand-new system, they send a remanufactured - that's remanufactured, not refurbished - system.  Also, specifically request that they recheck that there's no dead pixels on the one they send you, and they'll add a note to make sure.  The "new" system they send you has apparently been cleaned up to the extent that it looks brand-new.

Now... what do you recommend I do about that unfortunate fact that I've flashme'd? :P  I suppose I'll go look for the unflashme file.  Heck, if I brick it in the process, that's all good too, lol.  It was, after all, their fault that it was defective in the first place.

I think I'm going to take this opportunity to buy a DS-X.  That way, no flashme-ing in the future with the associated heart attack.  I'll keep my Supercard and use the DS-X as a passme.
