Use an IPS Patcher (Google it). Apply the IPS patch onto a clean Opera ROM

It's not working for me... but I think it's my DSLink's fault. Well, it's probably my fault... just veryifying that the video was OK.

I got my DSLink for Christmas and haven't used it, so I'm not sure about it... it runs clean ROMs, right? I put in Opera patched for M3 and provided a .sav file. Is it needed? When I open Opera is says "Save file error!" then runs and gives me the white screens of death. The files I have are operabrowser.nds in the root directory and operabrowser.sav in the SAV directory....

Also, when I turn it on, do I just stick my M3 in?

DS-Link does NOT run clean roms. But, the patcher is probably just as easy as unzipping your roms and copying them to the card anyway :) Patch the browser and it will create a correct SAV file. In other words, if you are using an M3 for Opera, you patch it for M3, take that file and patch it with the DS-Link software, and RUN it on the DS-Link.

Works absolutely perfect, even saves your bookmarks. I love the DS-Link/SC/Opera combo. Going to be even better when the SC Lite is unpatched....totally flush slot1 & slot2 web browsing without hot swapping anything :)

I can't get this to work on the M3 Simply DS. It says I need the RAM pack. I applied the ips patch.

I have the M3 Simply and a Supercard Lite. Can it just be the M3 firmware?

EDIT: Nevermind. I had to use the Supercard ips file, not the M3.

Oh. Thank you. :)

The clean ROM's thing doesn't really bother me... I mainly got my DSLink to use Opera, so I'll try it.

First of all, thanks.  These instructions couldn't have been easier, and they worked like a charm on the European version of the ROM.  I was wondering, though, if there was a patch for the Japanese version, since this patch doesn't seem to work with it.

sinkhead

I've never used the Japanese version, there might not be a patch for it because Triforce (the group who made this patch) have only made an English patch as for all I know.

Does anybody know why there are artifacts with when using the SC DS?

I have an older SuperCard SD do I just apply the SC_Opera.ips patch? It doesn't seem to work. If I run it through the SuperCard Patching app It launches but always asks for the memory expansion....

What's better for patching the opera rom.. using a IPS or a BDF patch?

Umm..yeah. You need to run this from a slot1 device and have a slot2 (M3 or SC..depending on the patch) device inserted to act as the memory expansion.

Your preference. The output will be the same.

If you already have an IPS patcher, use that. Otherwise, follow the easy to use video.

So I'm not sure I'm seeing what the order of operations is here with DSLink.  Do you patch the ROM then run it through the DSLink patcher or do you use the DSLink patcher before patching the ROM?  Or is the DSLink patcher even necessary to get this to work?

Steve

EDIT: Figured it out.  After patching the clean ROM with the patch, I ran it through the DSLink software.  Works perfectly now.
