Supercard DS One... not yet ready? Another opinion

0691 Eragon works 100% fine here using 4k save, SD speed 4 and a kingston 1g. When you make changes ( and hit save ) to the save type in the gui it updates the dat file, the SD speed is global though.

Personally I don't plan to ever install another dat update, its pretty easy to go to a "scene" site and get the save size after all ;)

I agree about it being pretty pointless not "patching" though, you have to trim so whats the real difference... I just want a utility that will take a rom number, unzip trim and copy to your media. The "DS-X manager" ( see the ds-x forums ) is pretty close to this apparently.

I own most of the slot 1 cards out at the moment and have to 100% agree the ds-link despite its "non clean slot 1" status is without a doubt the slickest around currently.

PS Opera works without glitches on the scone ( mmm scones ) using the original RAM pack

Those are all good points  bitblt. I figure it can only get better with time... as all the Supercard products do.

One other thing:

QuoteI can use Lovelite.nds and sm-mk4ds to switch back and forth between between the DSLite menu and the SCDS menu as many times as I want without a power cycle. With DSLink I can only switch one time before needing to power cycle.

Explain this a bit better. What needs to be on what and how to use and is anything needed to prep before use?

You had also mentioned trim.exe?

Well... after reading what ratx was saying... I went back and did a bit more experimenting. I tried Eragon (0691) with 3 different media cards. A 1GB A-Data. 1GB Sandisk, 1GB Sandisk Ultra, 2GB Sandisk.

It seems that a lot of games DO NOT like the A-Data card.

With all the Sandisk cards... Eragon worked perfectly, as well as, Castlevania: POR.

Wow...the media manufacturer now determines what games WILL and WILL NOT work? Atleast in the past, games would work... maybe just a little slowdown with certain cards, but they would still work.

Not sure of this is a good or bad discovery.

--UPDATE--

Well it is defiently not a defective A-Data card I was using. I tried it on two seperate 1GB A-Data cards... and no matter what setting i try, Eragon DOES NOT work. So this leads me to the conclusion that A-Data cards aren't compatible (or atleast 100%) with the new SCDS One. The A-Data cards however do work perfectly with the SC SD/MiniSD and Lite.

Go figure!

I think it's a software version issue.  The flash card reader in the device can read the memory card, it's just that the firmware seems to fall over with certain brands.  So, when a firmware update comes along, those brands will suddenly work IMO.  This has happened a few times with cell phones - the ones that have flash memory readers could not read some brands of flash memory.  A lot of memory is simply Toshiba parts re-branded, but the problem is elusive because if a re-brander changes the factory they source from, the same brand card that did work one week may not work the next week.

I think it's because the SD association is not able to enforce strict enough specifications - they have no teeth...

I suspect that the firmware is the same on all the Slot-1 devices, so, when the next firmware update occurs, all the cards that didn't work might suddenly start to.

Do you know something we don't or is it just guesswork?

Well, for whatever reasons... 1GB A-Data cards are not working properly right now. You are right... Maybe in the next firmware revision... it will work.

I just feel that if you plop down $50.00 or so dollars... that it should work almost 100% of what it claims to. It doesn't say... only with certain cards. This is why most companies (both large and small) have quality control testers. But, I do understand that you cannot please all the people all the time or every situation. Let's just hope it gets solved... and soon.

I was having this same problem with a few of my roms on my 2gb sandisk.  But after downloading them again they worked.

I just got my today and having lots of problem also. I have a scandisk ultra 2 1GB.

I cannot get animal crossing to run right. Keeps crashing. Digimon gets 2 white screen. Star fox white screens.

I hope that update the firmware soon.

I also get the error message when booting up. Runs fine.

Somewhat dissappointed with the card.
