On a camera phone is 1 megapixel good? Or should i got for a 2 megapixel? Please explain why you chose you answer.

Thank you

It's a cameraphone, the quality's going to be crap regardless. Save money and get the 1mp, going to 2mp isn't a big jump.
Setup: Onyx DS Lite, CycloDS + Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC; Camo GBA Micro, EZIV + Kingston 2GB MicroSD

Megapixels only measures the resolution of the image. That's important but there are other things you're going to need to take into account, like how well it performs in lower light and analog zoom(good) versus digital zoom(bad). Camera phones almost always suck at both of those, so I agree with iignotis. If you want a phone, get a good phone. If you want a camera get a good camera. You're not going to get both in one thing without spending real money.

the best camera phone i've seen are the ones on the newer sony ericsson phones. my w800i is above most other phones and is almost par with digicams during the day.

to answer your question - it depends on what you want to do with your photos. if you want to view them from your phone or pc then 1mp is fine. to print 6x4 photos, 2mp is preferred. however, it will all depend on the quality.

I have a sony ericsson k800i, and it rocks.  3.2 megapixel, with real mechanical autofocus.  real xenon flash too.

I used to use the sony ericsson w810i (2 megapixel) which had the best camera (slightly better than k750 and w800) up to then.

The newest sony ericsson's (except the k800 cybershot) have lousier cameras than the w800 and k750 and w810.  They are "2 megapixel" but they appear to be 1mp upscaled to 2mp via interpolation.  They look crap.  and they have either a greenish or bluish hue depending on the model.  I know because I bought a z610, a k618, and have seen photos from the w850 and they all look the same.. they changed their camera technology for some lousy one now.. unless u get the cybershot line..

I'd have to say get at least 1mp if you want to take serious photos. My Treo is 1.3mp and the photos come out great. WAY better than my crappy old LG lol.

under 250 not sure, but for between 240-280 on ebay you can get unlocked sony ericsson w810.  i recommend that.. i miss mine, and almost would rather use it than my k800 and it's 100 bucks cheaper.  it is quad-band

because i'm addicted to having the latest phone. haha.. and k800i is 3.2 megapixel.  (but it's only triband, no 850mhz)

So it does have a better camera on it, or at least more megapixels. Not sure how digital cameras work really. You can have all the Megapixels in the world but without a proper lens means nothing right? So what are good features to look for in a camera/phone. Digital zoom, optical zoom ... etc. Can you think of any other phone other then Sony Ericcson with decent camers?

I have a Nokia N73 and the pictures it takes are fantastic.
Your best bet is to go to http://www.gsmarena.com and do your homework. They have reviews for most modern GSM phones.[/url]
Dear Lisa, as I write this, I am very sad. Our president has been overthrown and --in different agressive masculine voice-- REPLACED by the benevolent General Krull. All hail Krull and his glorious new regime. Sincerely, Little Girl."
