Alternatives to Superkey/Nopass??

I read somewhere that things like an Action Replay or something can be used to flash my DSlite.  Is this true?

What devices can I buy somewhere like Best Buy that can be used to act as a Superkey/nopass device enough so I can flash my DSlite?  I wanna play some DS games with my SCminiSD and I don't want to sit around waiting for a Superkey to show up.

I eventually plan to get a SCDSone, but they're sold out right now......

I plan to use something like "Flashme_stealth" to flash my lite, which will yield a bunch of questions within itself.....like where do I get that file, what new button combos I'll need to know....stuff like that.

Back to the point...what devices can be bought in a store to enable flashing   my DSlite?  Cheapest one recommended wins.
Current setup:
Onyx DSlite/R4DS/SCminiSD
2gig Transcend card for the SCminiSD
2gig Kingston for the R4DS
4 gigglingbytes of games/apps! WOOT!

Like for instance, which of these devices here can be used this way?

Well for the CHEAPEST solution, you might want to look for a passme 2 device on the market place.  They show up sometimes.  Things like Superpass 2, EZ Pass 2, Passme 2, Passcard 2.  They are all like $5-$10, and you only need to flash once, so sticking out doesn't matter.

Hmm...but I NEVER see these available anywhere around me....either that or I just don't know where to go.

I have Best Buy's, Wal-Mart, Toys'R'Us, EB's and Gamestop's all around me, as well as a few "Mom'n'Pop" shops.  None of them ever had Passme/NoPass devices available.

Which leads me back to these "walk into a store and get it" devices....I heard it's possible, but which one?

I don't want to have to make an online purchase for an item I'll only use once.

From that page (which I recommend you use the [ url ] tag for, as the page stretch is really annoying), you could get the Action Replay, which functions as a NoPass if you hold Select upon bootup.  The only other option would be the Max Media Launcher included with the Max Media Dock or Max Media Player, but those are fairly expensive compared to the AR DS.

Alternatively, if you're just going to use it once to flash your DS, you could just borrow someone's passthrough device for a few days.

Hmm....I DID use the URL tag, that's what's strange.  Screen stretch sucks and I'm sorry I did it.

I don't know anyone around me that knows anything about flashing DS's.

So, the Action Replay is the one to use eh?

Now, I did watch that video about flashing a DSlite, but he didn't say where to get the files needed, nor did he say where to put the file, etc.   My DSlite is less than 6 months old.

So, Do I just put the file in the root of a blank flash card and boot it all up with the AR while hitting select?? How's that work?

I mean replace the link with

As for where to get the flashme file, go to http://forum.gbadev.org and go to the DS Flash Equipment section.  In one of the stickied topics is FlashMe for DS Lites, in which the 2nd post contains a TinyURL link with the most recent FlashMe v7 files.  Place flashme.nds or flashme_stealth.nds on your flash cart (doesn't need to be the root directory, though it can't hurt) and launch it.  Plug in your DS to the wall, press the XBXB code to continue, and then DO NOT POWER OFF YOUR DS.  Start the flashing process.  If your DS turns off, hope that you got at least 5% of the flashing done, which should be enough to use the failsafe recovery feature.  You can read up on that elsewhere though.

No problem.  I edited my previous post with some answers to a couple of questions you had.  Didn't realize you would reply before I finished, lol.

Ummm doesn't Zektor have a passcard 3 for sale on the marketplace?  It is fairly cheap and you don't need to flash if you have a nopass.

Vixtro

Why do you want to flash your DS if your going to get one of these slot 1 solutions? You might as well get a Passcard 3 (only like £10) and not bother flashing as it can pretty much do whatever a flashed DS can do without having to go through all the hassle and possible bricking threat that flashing poses.

Actually, this AR (just went out and got it) is small enough where I can just use that for the Passme until I get the SCDSone.  I'm not gonna flash it.  You bring up a good point about why bother if I'm eventually getting a SCDS anyway, plus I have no desire to possibly brick my DSlite.

There is only one possibility where flashing your DS would be usefull : if you want to play DS download games with a game on your flash cards...

Why? When you patch a game the patcher decrypts it, among other things. When a game is sent through DS download (using a patched game) the game sent is decrypted too. The problem is, for the majority of games, the DS will freeze when verifying the data. A flashed DS will run decrypted data without any problem.

Now you might want to flashed your DS if you want to play with someone who doesn't have a flashed ds (using the flashed DS as a client) AND you're using patched games. I don't much about the SCDS but, correct me if i'm wrong, I think you don't need to patch games with the SCDS.
