Not possible. Th DS is nowhere near fast enough. They can't even get it to run at speed on a PSP which has a much faster CPU.

wegehop, off topic, but didn't you have a picture of someone licking a genesis sonic cartridge as your avatar before?

if so, thank you so much for changing it... that picture gave me the creeps ;)

WedgeHop, these questions are getting more and more ridiculous :S
Setup: Onyx DS Lite, CycloDS + Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC; Camo GBA Micro, EZIV + Kingston 2GB MicroSD

I believe you can find some C++ tutorials at any library...

Look anyone can make one.  But I don't think anyone wants to play 1fps supermario 64 when you already have it anyway.  There is no way to emulate the N64 at a playable level.

Hi

Many, many games have not been ported to the ds. I wish they had, but the only way to play them would be using an emulator.

Okay, maybe they couldn't be emulated at a playable level, but it would be cool and it would be sort of fun playing kirby 64 on your nds (even if in slow motion) don't you think?

Wedgehop, I personally don't think it's right to say "Someone should write one then..." I mean, sure, I wish somebody would write one two. But don't you see how hard homebrew developers work already. Requesting is fine (although, I feel a bit uneasy even doing that), but think about it. I'm very impressed with what developers already do and really don't feel it's my place to ask for more- other than maybe saying "It would be very nice if you included X feature in your homebrew."

i'd recommend him the "Complete Idiots' guide to" series

Only way I could see it even being remotely possible is if you overclocked your DS.   I KNOW it can be done.....saw a video about it on YT some time ago.....

Here is the video I was talking about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYIvASbELkw

Even then, you would kill your battery faster, possibly burn up the ARM9 in the DS and would likely have to have that large circuit board shown in the video.  And for what, to gain a few more FPS in a still too slow emu?  Bleh...

We won't even get into controller emu issues......

As a few peeps around here like to say....unpossible.

Maybe it will be possible in Ninty's next HH (whatever/whenever that may be), but not the DS.
Current setup:
Onyx DSlite/R4DS/SCminiSD
2gig Transcend card for the SCminiSD
2gig Kingston for the R4DS
4 gigglingbytes of games/apps! WOOT!

1fps would be a very very FAST N64 emu on the DS... More then likely you'd be seeing something akin to 20+spf (seconds per frame).

The DS and N64 are very different in architecture, even overclocking the processor and using a slot-2 cart for extra ram you'd still not have enough physical RAM or processing power to emulate the console and most of it's games without horrendous slowdowns and many crashes.

The thing to remember is there is a huge difference between porting a game, and emulating a game.

Perseid

I don't remember the tech specs of the N64, but looking at the games it seems like the N64 and the DS are very similar in processing capabilities. And to emulate something you need to be much more powerful than what you're trying to emulate.

Rayder

From what I understand, the general rule is that the emu has to run on a system that is at least 10 times faster to maintain full speed.
Current setup:
Onyx DSlite/R4DS/SCminiSD
2gig Transcend card for the SCminiSD
2gig Kingston for the R4DS

to Hi: You would never get to play the game.  You would have to load the start screen first no one wants to play slow mo start screen.  This thread really should be closed.  Say what you want about not being ported, then just get project64 and emulate it on the computer its NO EVER going to be done on the ds, its not like you can just add ram to it to make it go faster.
