This morning I tried turning on my ds lite and it wouldn't turn on.  I use a supercard cf so I took it out and noticed the pins were bent.  My brother told me it happened last night while he was trying to do something.  How can I fix the ds?  This happened to my old ds phat and I had to solder something on a fuse on the ds.  Can someone explain what to do to get the power back?  The supercard I can find a way to fix the pins myself.

Yeah, sounds like that fuse got blown.  You can bridge the fuse like before, but then you don't have the protection the fuse offered.  Doesn't bitblt offer fuse replacement services?  It might be a good idea to check that option out.

Im trying to get it fixed myself right now because I know its not a free service and I can't afford it right now since Im broke.  I opened it up and I see f1 but i can't see f2.

Thanks to my me now I have an expensive paperweight in my hand.  While trying to fix I ended up breaking this small ribbon that connects from the motherboard to the otherside of the mobo.  Then another cord that goes from the motherboard broke off too.  I think I need a new motherboard for the ds to work again.

I wish I had I had been on the forums when you originally posted. I would have told you to only remove the bottom cover of the DS to gain access to both fuses. The only thing I can suggest now is to put everything back together the way it was and try to return/exchange it from the store you purchased it from, or try to get a warranty exchange from Nintendo. You could also sell it as parts on eBay for $40 or more. Are the DS Lite case and screws in good order?

If it was a DS Lite you should have just let Nintendo repair it for free

in the uk, a broken ds lite (boxed) can fetch up to £50 on ebay ~$100.

if you send it to nintendo they may replace it for free. if you're honest, they'll probably ask if you want to pay £25 for a replacement.

Well can't I just replace teh motherboard?  USually theres ds's on ebay that aren't really broken except for a top screen or so can't I just replace the motherboard?  Also if I fix it together can't I just call nintendo and have them switch it for me?  I soldered a wire from f2 to f1 but I messed up when putting the ds back togerther this small ribbon cable ripped.

Well I checked on Nintendo's website to see if my ds lite is still in warranty and it is.  So I will fix the inside and make sure the solder is removed then I will send it in to get mines repaired.
Edit: The serial number isn't on the back of my ds but is on the back of my ds box.  The sticker was removed so how can Nintendo tell if this ds lite is in warranty?

Not sure. Call up nintendo to find out. They have great costomer servace. I bet they'll have a way. I once called them up because I spilled water on my dsphat and broke it which isn't covered by warenty.

My warenty had expired so I never got the thing fixed. (still sitting on my shelf. So sad. Atleast I got a new phat.) However, from the way the nintendo person (er... don't know her name. Nintendo person works. Just don't tell nintendo person what I called her...) talked, it sounded like she would have replaced my ds had it been in warrenty-even though it's not covered.

See why I suggest you call nintendo?

Well i call them today after I fix the insides.  But won't they open it up to see the ds or will they just replace it?  Its some broken cables in the ds lite so won't they notice I opened it?

when i asked nintendo, they said they can't tell the purchase date just from the serial (that only gives the manufactured date). they should ask for a receipt.

don't go by my words, but most manufacturers don't bother with inspection or repair because it's cheaper to just swap it for a new or refurb unit. think of it this way, at worse, they'll just send it back to you unfixed.

Hi

Strange. When I called nintendo, (before I found out my warrenty was out) they said that they would first try to fix it AND IF THEY COULDN'T FIX IT they'd just give me a new one. So they shouldn't send it back to you unfixed...

All DS Lite are less than a year old and therefor still covered under the one year warranty. Will Nintendo inspect your DS for tampering? I don't know. The service center might not even bother. Worst case scenario you will have to pay Nintendo a flat $50 (US) repair fee. Ebay is a second option.

I think they do a spot check, like 1 in 3 bricked DSs.  Ive heard of some being sent back and some accepted
