I tried vista, it wasn't all that bad. But there were hardly any drivers for my hardware. No drivers=no wireless internet. Then add the fact that I didn't have any sound drivers either and you come up with a pretty useless os. I'll just wait a while before I reinstall it.

I've had Vista RC1 since it came out and have almost every driver I could need now, cept for SLI Support. But that's not too far away from what I can tell.

Hi

DO NOT GET RID OF WINDOWS FIREWALL UNLESS YOU ARE USING A BETTER ONE!!! (an example of a better one being norton) FIREWALLS ARE IMPORTANT! WITHOUT A FIREWALL PEOPLE WILL HACK INTO YOUR COMPUTER AND DESTORY IT!

(Text is in caps to make a point, not to yell or flame or hurt feelings.)

hm, i heard that Windows Firewall only makes you "invisible" and doesnt actually block any ports, so its pretty useless... maybe this changed in vista? (this info is on XP)

Well even if it's true, being invisable is a good thing.

You see, "there are bots that crawl the internet looking for unprotected computers. If they find one, they will attack it. You'll be hijacked in ten minutes" - my uncle

If your invisable, these bots can't find you.

heh, well, i'm under linux which is protected by the firewall on my router...

but, here - if your sharing files in ports via P2P, the firewall is kind of useless... like an umbrella full of holes...
