To use DragonMinded's words, he is "jumping on the browser bandwagon" and adding a web browser to DSOrganize 2.7. It's a logical move, given DSO already have the ability to render HTML and to download stuff from the net.

This is an update version. You need to install it over 2.6 or above. As it is in alpha, it will hang randomly, display text only, doesn't show non ascii characters etc, but the important thing is that it works.

Go DragonMinded!

wow! I can't wait!   The demo looks much cleaner than retawq on dslinux.

Gnirflo is soon getting released too!

Since gnirfleo is develooping one and has like a team workingon it, I think DM should just borrow their browser.

That's assuming Gnirfleo exists, which is still questionable, at least for 3 more days.  Besides, I'd just as soon applaud DM for doing his own work in getting his own browser to work.  The more variety, the better.

I agree, buut Itd save him time.  Also I can never get homebrew to boot within DSO so i guess the browser included within it would be a plus.

My apologies for going off-topic, but have you tried patching the exec_stub.bin file with DLDI as well?  That's necessary for homebrew booting.  He also just recently released a few alternate versions for devices that were having issues.

I'm not really sure it would save him time, as DSOrganize already has the basic HTML renderer in it, and it's already got the Wifi code, so it seems to me that it would be easier to merge the two together than to attempt to use completely unfamiliar code.  Then again, maybe it would be easier to borrow Gnirfleo code.  Who knows?

In the meantime, GPF has stated that he's at least somewhat close to finishing getting Links with graphics submitted to the DSLinux sourcecode repository, but he needs to learn how to submit patches with the new system.  In addition, he's working on a standalone version of Retawq that does not require DSLinux, though I forgot what the holdup on that one was.

Point is, with the Okiwi demo, Gnirfleo upcoming demo, DSOrganize browser, Links with graphics, and Retawq to look forward to, hopefully at least one of them will appear in a usable state in the near future.

Sweet! About to test, will report back with results.  8)

TESTED It works. Kinda rough around the edges and froze a couple times but it works. DM is the man. Just get the images working and it'll be all good  8)

It's so wonderfully hilarious when there are many people claiming to do something, like develop a browser, and for months we see no progress. Then, someone out of the blue is like, hello, I think I'll make a browser and it comes out in a matter of days.

PharaohsVizier

That is awesome.

Well autobulb, I think you have the wrong concept.  Those two browsers (can't remember their names) have support for things like images, flash and caching files.  This browser is mainly text.  I think that even text is hard to do, however DragonMinded already has some of it done by being able to read html, and also, he's one of the best homebrewers for the DS scene.  You can't really compare these two project, they are on very different levels.

Pharoah, I agree with autobulb.  Okiwi and Gnirfleo have been "competing" for months now, and then out of the blue DragonMinded releases this, the first actually functioning web browser, beating them both to the punch.  It's pretty funny if you think about it.

Besides, you can't really say "those two browsers have" support for images and flash, as neither has released anything that actually connects to the web yet.  I know images are probably going to be standard, but I'd be surprised if either supported Flash at all, as I know Gnirfleo has given up for the time beign, and I don't think Okiwi ever planned to implement it.

In addition, the DSOrganize browser does have caching - check the DSOrganize\Cache folder to see the HTML pages that have been downloaded to the card.  Granted, I think that a better name for the folder would be "temp" or something, as it's just the place where DSOrganize downloads the HTML files before running them through the built-in HTML renderer, but it's there nonetheless.

Erm, yeah, 2.7 not 1.7, whoops.  I made that same mistake over at DCemu, though I cought it after a few minutes there.

Hmmm I didn't know that.
