I hear from reliable sources that R4 and SupercardONE will include a built in cheat feature in the next version. Is the wide availability of cheat facilities a good thing?

Cheat feature in the R4? Seriously? And what reliable source did you get this from? (Just curious)

And back to topic, yes. I believe it is a terrible thing indeed. Cheats simply makes playing the game too easy, spoiling it in the process. Also, I doubt anyone would desire playing against a cheater online.

yeah... i agree

i remember one time i was playing against some guy in a multiplayer match... in TETRIS...

there was one guy that had all of those XXXX lines... and... well he makes tetris very easily... and beat the crap out of all of us

i'd rather lose to someone who could beat me with skill... (which is numerous times) than to a repetition of XXXX lines via cheating

Well Its good IMO, wifi has already been ruined by genuine Action Replays.  I dont even have an R4 but Some of the offline cheats in MKDS are super fun and worthwile.  Live replays, and 100cc time trials which really help for wifi seince wifi=100cc

Cheating should only be for fun during single player mode. There are other misc uses, but primarily private use in my opinion.

-SC SD - 2gb Sandisk Ultra II
-SC Lite Rumble - 1gb Kingston (tw)
-SCone - 1gb Toshiba (jp)
-R4DS - 1gb Sandisk (cn)

wow. i always thought that wifi was 150cc?

tennisgy

haha no, its 100cc.  They have all sorts of codes now though, so wifi can be any cc even 300 :o

The R4 cheat feature currently works with 275 games and adds 596KB to the kernel. You can't add your own cheats yet.

I read something about the SCOne cheat on the official forum, but can't find the thread now. :P

i think cheats are pointless for online, cuz that just ruins everyones experience. if you want to beat them then do it by practicing. however i do find using cheats in single player mode is always fun, i usually use them after i beat a game or lost interest in beating it and just want to fool around with it, like GTA games.

Wow, I was doubting this, but this link: http://forums.r4ds.net/showthread.php?t=1175&highlight=cheat says it all.

It is sad how they assume R4 will take the title of being first slot 1 cart to have CHT functions enabled.  I mean, DS Link has been working forever on it: http://bbs.emu-zone.org/newbbs/viewthread.php?tid=445655&extra=page%3D1&page=2

According to the latest post on the DS Link thread, the cheat function will be released tomorrow.  I guess the R4 team releasing theirs and claiming the title of being the first slot 1 cart to have CHT function sped up their process...  :)

liquidnitrogen

lol. its pretty cool how they name the cheat system...

gold finger... haha

felix

Cheats are known as gold finger in Chinese for a long time. Maybe it had something to do with the cartridge connector on the old physical cheat devices.

Woohooo!  DS Link 2.0 test is out!

PharaohsVizier

Apparently both the MicroNinja and the DS Link has cheat support as of today.  I think the DS Link update came a few hours earlier.  :)
