ok i want to play gamecube backups and homebrew on my gamecube but dont want to spend to much, what would be the best way to do this? also can i run backups with something like this? http://ngc.scorpei.com/GUIDE-SD_adapter.html

the cheapest and/or easiest solution would be appreciated

sonicwind

get an action replay and what you make from above do this

IF you got soldering skills then the cheapest way would be to get a modchip. I bought my modded GC from a guy on this forum named  Edge-`. He'll mod your cube for $35, and that includes XenoGC chip. Homebrew and backups work just fine with no need for any SDload or Action replay tricks.

sonicwind

sdload is for people like me who don't know how to solder :D

oh ok, if anything ill probably do that but would still like to hear what others have to say. Also how would i play regular sized dvd R backups?

sonicwind

you would need to buy a new top so that it would read full sized ones.

DeVS

Or use Mini DVD's but they are more expensive.

Yup, they are more expensive. I got a new top for mine so I could use full sized cheaper DVDs. Or, you could take the cheap way out and just remove the top of your Cube and use a paper clip to hold the power switch in while you play

I would like to know what modchips people have for theirs and how good it is, and would also like to know what it means by flashable and want one that is pretty cheap and isnt really hard to instal cuz ive soldered once before so i think i can handle it, or get help from my dad with it if i cant

i might do it the cheap way until i have enough for the new top XD
Also what emulators are there for GCN and are they any good? i would really like snes, gba, gbc, genesis and n64 (dunno if thats possible) the most but any others are fine too

EDIT: i do plan on getting a wii later on and a wiikey but i have no idea when i will be getting one and really want to play some gamecube titles so should i mod my gcn anyways? im not going to be selling my gcn after i get my wii anyways

uzumakishade

no one has anymore info on this?

i just want to know does the XenoGC play all backups because im thinking of getting that chip i was looking at the comparision chart here http://modthatcube.pxn-os.com/content/bcompare.htm and just wanted to know if it was any good cuz for $20 usd i think its worth it if it works well unless i can get a max drive PRO for cheaper

also i would like to know how good the emulators are for gamecube if anyone could let me know

754boy

Well honestly, you're really not gonna find a Max Drive Pro for under $20 anywhere now. I have a XenoGC and yes it plays whatever you throw at it. The only emulation I've tried was SNES emulation. It has full speed and full sound. It's awesome lol. I'm gonna get the Genesis emulator next to see how well it runs. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my XenoGC. :D
