I send my save  file to my pc but I'm having problems with using file on r4. I used dd trick savefile is now 512kb as it should be but at r4 game ignores save and starts new game? Any idea?  :-\
edit: I've done some research. I used save converter at http://www.shunyweb.info/index.php  raw -> r4 and it worked like a charm.  :smitten:

I'm having problems connecting with savsender. I have forwarded the ports and downe everything that's suggested in the first post but I keep getting the error that it cannot connect to the AP.

dantheman

Have you tried using SavReceiver?  People say that that's easier to use than my guide sometimes.

Morian

yes I have tried SavReciever but still no joy. I don't know what could be the problem I can connect via homebrew apps and I can connect via retail games. It either stalls or I get a cannot connect error. And it doesn't matter if I have the ip address in the DS set to manual or auto I still get the same result.

i have a verizon FiOS router. it lists these protocals, what one do i use for port forwarding

FTP
HTTP
HTTPS
IMAP
L2TP
Ping
POP3
SMTP
SNMP
Telnet
TFTP
Traceroute
VoiceWing VoIP Phone service

it also has listing for bunch of applications and games in show all services. i dont see TCP or anything like that.

my other question is. lets say im on the road with my laptop (getting one soon) and theres no WI-FI or i dont have access to pulbinc one port forward (of course). is there a app that will let my wi-fi adapter or at least the nintedo USB wi-fi (be nice can do this on other people pcs) as a wi-fi access point. so i can directly send sav to retail cart?

oh ya one last thing, lets say i got mario kart DS retail cart. and i been playing mario on iDeaS emulator will ideas save game be compatable with retail cart? wanted to know cause I been playing retail mario kart and i wanna to give the game to my son, but I dont want him to have my save game on kart. I wanted to use "blank" iDeaS save so he wont have my high scores and stuff listed.   I want to let him have a "clean" cart in the sense.

last but least will this work with detal's games n music? I got dldi files for version 1 and 2, it be only reason id buy the unit is for this save game thing.

I'm... really not sure how to setup port forwarding in your case, sorry.  Try without it first.

The official Nintendo USB Wifi stick could work in theory as long as you install the hacked drivers to turn it into a SoftAP so homebrew can work with it.  Again though, I'm not entirely sure.

I'd convert the save file to a raw save using the Shunyweb converter first, but yeah it should work.  Or you could just create a dummy file with empty data and send that over.  For Mario Kart specifically though, I'd just go into the Options menu and choose the "erase data" option.

The GnM should work with at least one of the two DLDI files, yes.

thx for the reply, ya this cable/router modem thing is a pain i had to manual set up mario kart to reconize it, auto detect would only see ssid but not config it. would be coo if sav sender had the the gateway, dchp and dns setting in its conf file too, it would help people like me. but will see if svsip's wifi-config.nds can see my router. just waiting for my dmn updated CC to come in the mail lol

i do have a wireless usb adapter, netgear wg111v2. if i followed some of the info about SoftAP should that work? will test it

Edit: well that netgear adapter didnt have a AP function. guess I'll get the nintendo adapter and use the softAP hack if that works with savsender and netcat

I really want to get this to work, but it always fails at 'resolving host' for me. I've opened the appropriate ports, configured it all like it says in the tutorial, and even tried using savreceiver as well.

I can connect to the homebrew database in dsorganise, so im assuming everything on the ds/router is set up correctly.

You could try using Rudolph's DS Backup tool, wifi edition.  You'll need to use FTP for this rather than HTTP, but it should be able to manage saves fairly well.

Uhm...

*Sigh*

I was doing great until I put my Micro SD into the M3. I turned the savsender.nds on and it gives me an error that it can't open config. Settings is in Data, and inside settings is 'savsender.conf'. Now, it says it is a text document, but it doesn't have a .txt extension, to the best of my knowledge.

Could I get some help over here? I'd kinda like to transfer my 600 hours of gameplay from Pokemon Pearl. Call it a waste of time, but it was all so worth it.  ;D

EDIT: NEVERMIND, figured it out.

dantheman

Glad to hear you got it working.  Was it actually named "savsender.conf.txt" by accident?  The default behavior in Windows is to hide the file extension if it recognizes it, so it wouldn't tell you if the file actually ended in .txt.

Hey all, i'm *totally* new to the homebrew scene and am trying to get my save file from my pokemon Diamond game cartridge so i can edit it...

the problem i'm having is that once i transfer the savsender folder to my microSD (using a CycloDS evo) i can't seem to 'open' it... there is no .exe file or anything like that just unreadable 'makefiles' and 'arm7/9' folders witch also contain unreadable 'makefiles' and 'source' folders that contain 'arm7_main.c' and 'main.c'

I'm terribly sorry if this is a simple solution, or if i'm missing something obvious but for the life of me i can't figure it out, i've searched for how to actually launch it to no avail, even tried moonshell with no sucess.

moonshell can 'read' the 'arm7_main.c'/'main.c' files but its just text nothing launchs...

Sorry to be a bother... :-[

You downloaded the sourcecode by mistake.  All you need from the SavSender website is the *.nds file from http://frodo.dyn.gno.org/~brettk/download/savsender-1.1b.nds

The rest (netcat etc) you get from outside sources.
