Okay, I just turned 37 on the 12th so I guess I'm an ole fart.  I also owned an original (heavy sixer) Atari VCS (2600), and my first computer was a Timex/Sinclair 1000 with 2KB ram and a Z80 CPU clocked at 3.25MHz, which I upgraded to a woping 16KB RAM.  Later I moved up to the VIC20 and then the amazing C64.  I won't even mention my Amiga or 386SX-16.  In some strange way programming GBA/NDS transports me back to my 8bit programming days.  Life was good.

game consoles and computers I own (or once owned) . . .

Atari Pong, Odyessy 2, Atari 2600 (w/ supercharger), TS1000, VIC20, COLECO Vision, Vectrex, C64 (and SX-64), Atari 800, C128, NES, Gameboy, Atari ST, Amiga 500, 386SX-16, Atari Lynx, 386DX-33, Sega Genesis, 486DX-40, SNES, 486DX2-66, Pentium 60, Pentium 90, P-133, Playstation, P-200, Gameboy Color, Sega Nomad, AMD-333, Virtual Boy, AMD-400, AMD-666 (overclocked), PIII-1GHz, PS2, NeoGeo Pocket, GBA, Athlon 2GHz, Ms Pac-Man upright, GBA-SP, Athlon 64 3500, 2x NDS (w/ PassMe, SC-SD, Ralink WiFi, 2GB SD), Athlon 64 X2 4200 . . . . and I plan to get a PS3 soon.      8)

i am 41 years old....and use my two sons aged 12 and 8 as a smokescreen....
in the mid 70's, at about 11 years old i got my first tv game...4 games(tennis, squash, soccer and solo) but we were posh, so mine was colour!!

I can still remember playing space invaders for the first time(still like it) in the late 70's then moving onto Xevious, then pinball Action which both were great when viewing them thru a bit of a purple haze    !!
Ow, wait....forgot the Moon Cresta too.....great games in their time, and Classics to me.....

I'm 30. I started with an Atari 2600, then Colecovision, INTV, Vic-20, Sega Master System, NES...the list goes on and on. I was a big C64 (Commodore) freak in the early 80's, and ran a few BBS's back then, including the HQ for the demo group I was a member of: Entity. Then I went to Amiga, where once again I was a member of a demo group entitled "Awesome". Then I got back into the console scene with the Saturn and PSX, then got into the Dreamcast pretty hardcore, doing a whole bunch of homebrew and other "stuff" on that system as well :) Didn't really get into the PS2 or Xbox scene, as I was working alot at the time (still do) and other family priorities. I did get into the PSP scene at the very start, but got bored rather quickly with the games and sold it off. Finally decided to get back into the NDS scene since I like it, and the games are great.

Well, that is my very very quick rundown of the past 20 or so years!

Ohh, and Starteck2002:

Those 1581's weren't all that rare back in the day. I had 8 of those along with my trust 20MB (yes, MB!) Lt Kernel hard drive. Wonder what made them so sought after?

How old are you?  :?

BTW, I tell them, "It's a freakin ds, NOT a gameboy!"  :o

BTW, you tell your brother that I am 30, and I think the Gameboy is one of the best (if not the best) game system ever created. Nuff said.

zektor, have you seen any of the bbs documentary?  if not it's really really worth a watch... and i highly recommend it.  i was just a lame bbs user and it is one of the most interesting and nostalgic documentaries i've seen in a long time and i've only seen 2 of 7 episodes so far... it really puts the internet into perspective... i remember dialing into a friend's bbs to send this stuff called e-mail... i didnt have any contacts, but i remember emailing a member of a band i liked, and he sent me back which was the coolest thing ever.... especially since i was a young kid.

anyway, back to the topic...

i'll soon be 26. i've been into games since i was a wee kid.  my first system was a vectrex which still is one of my favorite classic systems.  there FINALLY is a vectrex emulator out for xbox and (an unplayable) one for DS, but i wish there were better ones out there with sound... luckily i have mine still... maybe i'll start getting into writing some sort of sound driver for it... in the spare time i obviously do not have.

i've never really been into too many games while they're current.  i got a NES way too late, but played it WAY too much anyway and was really into renting crappy games, especially toward the end of the nes when they were insanely inexpensive to rent... I never really got into the classics as much as people my age (zelda, metroid)... i did play them, they just werent my favorites... my favorite nes game?  t&c 2: thrilla's surfari...

probably my favorite console of all time would be SNES which i bought off of some kid at school with a box full of games.  original mario kart is probably my favorite console game of all time.... uniracers was oddly addictive too for whatever reason...

i have a modded psx, gamecube and xbox, an unmodded ps2, a jaguar, etc... the best handheld of yore was the Atari Lynx.  It had so much potential but just failed because there were no killer apps... it was up agains "4 shades of grey" and lost?!?

my biggest "scene" system was dreamcast, i fell in love with it, but it's value wore off pretty quickly for me.  the most valuable app for it was nesterDS.  i ended up giving it to a friend... they still use it all the time because nes rules... :)

of course i'm a ds fan, it's the first system i've REALLY been into that is actually current gen... i love the supercard and i couldnt bare to see this forum close back when it briefly did... so i took the risk and opened it back up... i'm not around as much as i should be, here or in #scdev.org.  but i try to read every single message... work and life suck you dry, man... but technology and games are my passion, especially homebrew stuff... my next purchase will most likely be a gp2x and a massive memory card for it... i cant wait until i get paid... MAME IN MY POCKET??? awesome.

I do like to play with my toys, but my missus thinks i may be getting a bit too old for this kind of stuff.  truth is I love anything like this.  I still have such odd things as a LaserDisc player with loads of films, cards and roms that go in all sorts of weird machines from days gone by and boxes full of crap that really should go in the bin - or at least on ebay!  When i pop my clogs I wonder if my three kids will look at my vast colection of crap and get the same pleasure I get out of the stuff or will they be chucking it all on 'flog-it' to make enough money for a new cat litter tray or other 'ever so useful' item?

I'm 25, I also started on the Atari 2600 I dont remember since when...I was youg. I had bad asthma and I remember playing atari in front of the t/v with my mask on when I was too sick to go to school, and that happend often lol. I've never turned back since. But I think it's mostly the Nes in 1985 that really changed my life. I hate when my wife and friends tells me to grow up that games are for kids, they just dont get it! I'll be gaming till I Die!

I just got a DS this christmas (gift from my wife). In the past I also owned nintendo's gameboy, nes, super nes, N64 and Sega's game gear, genesis, sega-cd, saturn, dreamcast. Only thing I had from sony I was the Playstation cause I could chip it easilly. I'm not a big fan of sony and I didnt get the PS2. Back then dreamcast was my main console for long, full of backups, emulaters and homebrew, I still use it sometimes. But now I mainly use my Xbox that I chipped and loaded a HDD. I use it for everything on my big screen, games and media centre, it's like having another computer in the house!

I really love this DS and I take it pretty much everywhere I go now. I think the DS has the best games and gameplay for on the go. When you just want to play something interesting, fun and quick.... I beleive the homebrew scene will keep getting better and that great apps will follow for the DS.

Well, I am (nearly) 37 and I have been gaming since the days of the old TV consoles (can't even remember what the one I had was called!  It was a grey box with orange buttons and things and was in colour). Moved on to my first 'handheld' (Entex Space Invaders...God, I loved that game...!)  Had everything from a ZX81 to an  Amstrad CPC464 to first PC (8080 processor, 640k RAM and a massive 30Mb hard disk that never seemed to get full!!!)  Never had the Spectrum or C64 but had mates who I spent most of my time with who had both...

Still have the following:
Grandstand Scramble (desktop version)
Grandstand LCD Pacman
Grandstand Desktop Pacman (big round yellow one)
Sega Megadrive (somewhere...)
SNES
Game Boy (first revision)
Game Boy Advance (first revision) x3 (passed down to my kids)
[one with an afterburner light that I fitted (badly!) :( ]
PS
PS2 (black)(original)

...and my Trusty DS.

...oh, and a (sometimes) understanding wife......

Lots of good memories of all the games and machines on here!  I remember in the 80's spending every saturday morning in the Arcades playing whatever was new.  Took my kids to the local arcade as a treat last summer and was seriously disspointed - it's all fruit machines these days!!!
