I've looked really hard but I still can't find a post describing an obvious method how I change the moonshell skin.  I understand that the desktop bmp in the folder moonshell09/files/.shell needs to be replaced with my own bmp file (256 x 192), but what happens next I don't know.  I also understand that I will then need to transfer the modified _BOOT_MP_SC.nds file onto my CF card & hey presto, all will work, but how do I create this modifed file using what came with the moonshell09 download?  Actually whilst I'm feeling adventurous, what other aspects of Moonshell can I personalise/chav up?
thanks

Please refrain from reposting your problems when your first topic is still open (was just about to reply to there)

After you put your custom .bmp in the /files/.shell (making sure it's named "desktop.bmp") go back to the moonshell root directory and run "CreateNDSROM_for_supercard.bat"

Then transfer "_BOOT_MP_SC.NDS" to your supercard and run.

(whoops, missed a step somewhere, Let me try to figure this out again, I'll post a fixed reply in a couple minutes)

(edit) This is really bizarre... has anyone gotten WriteFiles IMFS to update the .nds file correctly?

rocky

Ive tried just about everything to get this to work but i cant, even the settings in the .ini file cant be changed.  it doesnt even work on PC emulators so it might be a problem with the .bat file or something.

Koji

Well there is definitely wrong with something in the package. So to answer your question, it looks like .9 is bugged and you can't change the default files in moonshell. There will probably be a fixed release in a few days.

Mithos

You need to run WriteFiles_IMFS.bat to make the changes to the _BOOT_MP.nds file, after this run CreateNDSROM_for_SuperCard.bat to make the _BOOT_MP_SC.nds file.

Because all CreateNDSROM_for_SuperCard.bat does is to add a loader to the file _BOOT_MP.nds.

So you need to do what I said first in reply.

Or you could add call WriteFiles_IMFS.bat as the first line in CreateNDSROM_for_SuperCard.bat

I still cant get it to work, what are you using? SD or CF, that shouldent realy matter thoe because in emulators it does the same thing.

Have you actually tried this? I think you'll find that it goes through all the steps but it doesn't change the files.

I think we are just going to have to wait for the update on this  unless someone can get it to work.

Dudu.exe

worked for me.. im using a C6 skin posted on saves and hacks forum!

Running Writefiles_IMFS and then the Supercard batch file worked for me. (I pulled one of the bigger NDS files out of the ChangeCodePage folder, though.)
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

Changing the skin works for me as well. The window resize option is brilliant (except you can't change the size of the progress bar).

tobster

nope, I have also tried the Mithos method with no success. Oh, and by the way, thanks for the input, and the more detailed instructions, which  were just what I was looking for, IF only it had worked....

Of course I have...

Have changed my codepage, edited the global.ini to my liking, and changed my desktop.bmp to the one cory1492 had in Moonshell 0.8 for SC SD.

out of interest, how do you change the skin/music in moonshell0.8 as there is no CreateNDSROM_for_SuperCard.bat  file in the downloaded stuff?

Pretty much the same way...

Edit/change what you want, and run:

1. WriteFiles_IMFS.bat
2. Create_M2SC(unconfirmed).bat

Place _BOOT_MP_M3SC.nds on your CF card (Moonshell 0.8 "original" don't support SD)
