Bubble didn't drop the sclite, the fastrestart project was finished/abandoned before it was ever released.

Final Fantasty 1&2 should work just fine without this patch. Just run it through the SC patcher with the usual settings.

Final Fantasy 4 and 5 are more problematic. The method of saving you just described is essentially the same as the 'QPC method' (Quick Power Cycle) - you save in-game, quickly turn the DS off and on again, go to the game's saver slot and press A.

As Fastrestart doesn't work with SCLite, using QPC and PfPatch is the best option (pfpatch gives the speed increase of fastrestart, without the saving features). Unfortunately, this gives rise to another problem - the SC team 'broke' QPC saving with the latest firmware. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's random. It sucks. I lost a 10-hour save on FF4 due to this.

Your options, as I see them, are:

1) Use PFPatch and QPC, when using the SC Patcher select 'Enable Save', 'Enable Saver Patch' and 'Enable More Saver'. Disable everything else. The last option will present you with FOUR save slots when you do a QPC save. Save to ALL of them, then you have four times the chance of it actually working. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

2) Buy/Obtain a Supercard CF/SD. Minimal Slowdown, and fastrestart works fine.

3) Downgrade your firmware, use PFPatch and QPC. Only enable 'save' and 'saver patch'. The 1.55c firmware should do the trick.

At this time there is no 'perfect' workaround, unfortunately.
