Is there any way to get Nintendo to REPLACE my DS Lite instead of REPAIRING it?

I told them in the letter, but i don't know if they'll listen

If you live in Richmond, just drop by at their headquarters, they guarantee that you'll be out of there in 30 minutes or less.  And to keep that promise, they just give you a new one instead of repairing.  However, the DS Lites they hand out aren't new, they are refurbished.  So it is someone else's DS Lite repaired.  Although they do make sure that nothing is scratched or something like that.

Vapourstreak

Thanks.  Are you ABSOLUTLY certain that they will give me another one, and it doesn't have scratches or anthing?

Uh... I boxed it up and covered it with 2 layers of duct tape.  Any idea if they'll accept it?

[EDIT] If I send it to the factotry (Which I think si the same headquarters I could be going ot right now), will they replace it with a refurblished DS Lite or a new one?

I live in Richmond (How'd you know? *Glares at profile :D*)

if its within your warrenty you are entitled to a new one do you have proof of purchase on it still with a date on the receipt when you bought it !?

If there is a center near you as mentioned above then take it in to them then theres no waiting they will/should exchange there and then :)

Just tell them what we have stated above that its an INTERMITTENT problem that it crashes with your game but not on your friends and its getting annoying dont make too much of a scene, be polite but firm ...about it just ask them can it be replaced under your year warrenty and that it was bought for you for christmas just gone by a relative so you dont have the receipt ........ its within warrenty if you say this and  hopefully they will just do you an exchange there and then just smile be polite and insistant that its intermittent and that it does not happen all the time but its getting fustrating that its middle of a great game and remind them that the same game plays flawless and fine in your friends ds  :)

find out the number of the centre and call them first explain the situation and just be polite talk to them and explain your fustration and ask can it be exchanged there as calling the customer service at nintendo wherever their main factory is was no help to you at all and that their customer service was terrible and resolved nothing and you would rather someone who knows what they are doing deal with you :)

remember you just gotta be firm but nice  :D

The only way to get to the cantre is for my dad to drive me and I don't want to lie because me dad knows about it.  The only way is to mail it to them and lie.  It takes a long time to mail, so I woudl rather go to the centre, any other ideas to get them to exchange the DS Lite?

[EDIT] Do I need to phone Nintendo and explain the problem again before sending the Lite back?

THAT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA/START  :)

my next question is ... why are you obessed on getting it exchanged anyway !?

Whats actually wrong with it ?!

Vapourstreak

Its cracked (I didn't do it).  Its a little cracked, it didn't bother me, but its a distraction for my friend, who I'm giving it to.

then if its cracked then you dont need to make anything up just phone then tell them /explain that its got a crack in it and you need it exchanged as they have been doing so for loads of others under warrenty  :)

problem solved  :)

just tell them that it was a gift so you do not have the receipt thats all they really need to know and the serial on the bottom :)

they will/should do the rest  :)

PharaohsVizier

You get a REFURBISHED one, not a new one.  Just to make that clear.

Also, don't return it because of the crack, some people won't give it to you, they will tell you to pay.  Personally, I'd give a call to them and explain the situation and ask if it is possible to return it.  If they say no, wait another day, tell them the exact same thing.  Different reps have different policies.  So eventually, they will say yes, then you tell them to set up an account.  And then you just go in there, tell them your account number, and they'll have it replaced, they might check for the problems, but they'll have it replaced within a minute or two.

Also, ask them to check for dead pixels.

Vapourstreak

I told them it was a crack near the volue and headphone jack (It is BTW), they said they will charge me.  Any idea how to get it replaced for FREE?

PharaohsVizier

If it isn't their problem, just pay them!  Jeez, Nintendo's prices are really reasonable.  But if you really want it for free, you got to keep calling, and telling different people the same problem.

Should I send the DS Lite in the mail or just take it to the Nintendo of Canada headquarters (5 mins drive from where I live)?  I would rather mail it, but tell me all the bad points and good points about the options, plz.
