I fear wireless online multiplayer could be a problem. I couldn't even play a single-cart multiplayer with my second DS. The downloading of the game works fine, but when it starts it's over. The Nintendo logo flashes on short on my second ds that loaded the game and then it's frozen. However I have yet to try original Multiplayer without download play. I have a copy of advance wars here, might check if normal multiplayer works later...

EDIT: Ok that is strange, download single cart multiplayer seems to work, but not with nanostray    Just tried it with puzzle bobble and it works... I guess Wifi Online should do fine too, that is if they don't implement something to the wifi games...

Yes, the DS wifi games will have a unique code that comes with the games. None of us will know for sure if you could play online with a rom as long as you have an official code until the game is out and we can actually test it.

Untill then, the most we can do is conjecture with what information we have.

cmon guys.  if u want to play online, stop pirating and BUY the damned game.  At that point, it's not trial-ware anymore.  I hope Nintendo will ban idiots that play pirated copies online.

I just came from the WiFi site and it didnt say anything about the carts having unique codes. It said that each DS has a unique wireless ID.  8)

What are you doing here? Go away

Dont be a toolbox.  Seriously, if you expect to play MK online without buying it, you're pretty naive.  And the fact that you pretend like suggesting buying a game doesnt belong here is laughable.  Dont be stupid. Get a job, freeloader.

I got a fucking job mister and I already got this shit reserved and fully paid for at a local EB. You're a freeloader too, otherwise y would you be here at a forum for backing up games and such.

I'm a little cranky today... I just don't think discouraging someone who buys games to post here is acceptable.

It'd be sweet if we could use a rom...  I plan on buying the game but once I get my SC (kicktrading is shipping it tomorrow, finally) I never want to have to carry an extra game again.  I want them all on my SD card.  :D

hey socket, i think it's time to use your god-powers ;)
I'm all for trialware but all-out piracy is not nice.  Games that deserve buying should be bought, esp if Nintendo is losing money on the online portion.

from nintendowifi.com:
QuoteImportant note: The Nintendo WFC ID and the game card are treated as a unit. Because of this, playing your Nintendo DS game card in another Nintendo DS system may override all of your online information saved to the game card, including your own personal Friend Code. Other players with this Friend Code would no longer be able to identify you as an online friend until you provided them with the new Friend Code you would need to generate. We recommend against playing your Nintendo WFC-compatible DS game cards in any one else's Nintendo DS system.

Looks like the Friend code is a hash of the game-id and your DS's MAC address.  Combine that with the following:
QuoteIf you receive a message that you are unable to connect to the Nintendo WFC because the Wi-Fi ID from the Nintendo DS and the Game Card do not match, you are using a game card that was set up with another Nintendo DS. We recommend that you play your game in the same Nintendo DS that the game card was set up in.

If you wish to permanently use the game card in a new Nintendo DS, you should first transfer the WFC ID from the old DS to the new DS. This will keep your Friend Code and Friends Roster intact.

Apparently the game-id is registered to a certain DS unit. Dumps will therefor only benefit one person.

just my thoughts on it though.

To me it looks like you'll be able to use a dump, but only if the card hasn't been set up yet, as every DS mac address is different.  You probably wouldn't be able to transfer your stats from a regular card to a dump though...

I think it sounds kind of complicated to write on every single cart another ID... Will they really do this or will they refer to the built in DS serial number every ds has? Well, we'll see soon enough I guess...
