Guys just a newbie here and i need your help, I got a Gameboy Micro and i dont know what supercard model to get. Any ideas to w/c one is better between the two in terms of gba loading, save features and movie/mp3 funtionality? Im a lil bit confuse since most topic here is more about the functionality for the nds. Thanks in advance

if you want it for gba i recommend something else instead of a supercard. people have been recommending the ez flash 3 or 4 to me

mibuwolf12

thanks for the reply uzumakishade.
ill try to look more about the ez flash 3/4. how about the m3 perfect ?

uzumakishade

it all depends on your price range, personally for me im going to be getting an ez flash 4 because its not too expensive and fits my needs for gba games. people have said m3 perfect is good as well for gba so if you want to spend that money on it go for it.

EZ Flash 3 is a definate for me, it has perfect GBA emulation, a good support team, and its really cheap...  Also, if you get a NDS in the future, it has pretty good NDS support too, and it keeps getting better because of their awesome support!

The EZ team sucks with DS roms. This is the opinion of a disgruntled EZ4 owner

I have been waiting for over 2 months now and there has been 1 DS rom fix. This is quite discouraging since in that time there have been 3 or more new DS roms released that don't work. At this rate the EZ4 is going to have a huge list of non-working games by Christmas.

I can only dream the EZ team was any where near as good as the SC team when it comes to DS roms. Oh well it least it's good with the ancient  archaic GBA roms.... :(
Yes I'm mad

I would suggest the SC mini since it will fit perfectly in your GBM.
I used a SC mini in a GBM and the save functions worked flawlessly for me.
As far as movies/music go, don't even try either with a GBA/GBM.  The system can only support .gbm files which sound AWFUL.  The video resolution sucks compared to the DSL too.

So if you are planning on staying in the supercard family just to play GBA roms and NES roms get the Supercard mini.

uzumakishade

if he plans on using it only for gba roms though i dont think he should use a supercard, i really suggest you get an ez flash 3 or 4 if you plan on using it mainly for gba and dont care about ds support

Whatever... I use supercard and it works flawlessly for GBA ROMs.  Buy a DS, add superkey, and you're set.

uzumakishade

it has slowdowns for plenty of  gba games such as metroid zero mission and fusion and other games with lots of enemies on the screen at once, he doesnt want it for ds games, if he does then ya the supercard is the way to go

The thing about EZ Flash 3 and DS roms, is that you ahve to fiddle with all the options, some roms only work with that kind of a patch, and also, IMO, EZ Flash 4 isn't worth it.

Pros and Cons of EZ Flash 3
+ Cheap price
+ Awesome for GBA roms
+ Pretty quick when it comes to writing and reading roms.
+ NO SLOWDOWNS
+ Great forums and tech support
- Limited space (pretty big though)
- NDS rom support has lots of problems, but overall it is even better than the EZ Flash 4
- Team had pretty good support, but now they are focused on EZ Flash 4 more than this cart.

Pros and Cons of EZ Flash 4
+ Uses removable disk (lots of memory and you can add more)
+ Flawless GBA compatibility
+ Nice look
+ Great support, and team
- NDS support even worse than EZ Flash 3
- Costs more than the EZ Flash 3

Pros and Cons of Supercard
+ NDS looks very stable if not perfect
+ REALLY good support (especially this forum)
+ A lot of homebrew is aimed at supercard and not EZ Flash
+ Removeable memory
- Terrible GBA support

EFA is better. If you just want to play GBA games, get the original EFA Linker. Limited capacity, but do you need more than 8-16 games with you at once? Reflashing takes just a few minutes when you need a change.

I use the EFA 256mbit cart, but I would've gotten the 512mbit if I didn't have a teenager to share with (which is why I bought two 256 carts instead of one 512).

Jandaman and Kicktrading both sell it. It's got the best GBA compatibility, without patches or complications.

If you HAVE TO have over 25 GBA games in your pocket at once, or if youre looking for something to do NDS also, M3.

Guys I really appreciate all your response and btw what im looking for should be able to play nds games too.So if ever im going to get one in the future (Nds since nds lite still priced high here), the adapter will still be useful. i think the SC mini will also look good in a NDS am i right?  :?:

PharaohsVizier

but the SC mini will be terrible for GBA...

What is up with the "terrible GBA support" nonsense?

I used my Supercard SD for GBMicro for months without ever planning to get a DS.  It ran 90% of games perfectly.  There are a few games that are so choppy that they are unplayable, and a few games with slowdown that is completely bearable.

For example:  I played and beat Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission on Supercard on my Micro without the slight slowdowns bothering me ever.

Don't listen to PharaohsVizier, he is just regurgitating what he's heard around various forums.  Ask people who actually USED the Supercard for primarily GBA games.  If you plan to upgrade eventually to a DS, I'd strongly recommend the Supercard Mini SD.  The only other choice for someone in your position is really an M3.  The M3 is functionally identical to the Supercard in most ways, with the bonus that it has basically perfect GBA support.

But ask yourself if you want:

90% GBA support + 99% DS support for ~$45 (Supercard)
or
99% GBA support + 99% DS support  for ~$85 (M3)

I opted for the Supercard as it was cheaper.  When I bought it, I never planned on getting a DS, but now that I have a DS, I'm glad I went with the SC over some GBA only solution like the EZ, etc.

Your current situation sounds very similar to mine from a month ago.  I highly recommend just getting a SCmini, and just avoiding the well known "problem gba games."  There are still over hundreds of perfectly playing gba games for SC.
