Quote from: "DSlinux FAQ"But M3 and Supercard have a 32MB RAM extension! Can this be utilised by DSLinux?

Not really. The problem is that the GBA slot bus supports 16bit writes only (1 bit per wire). For 8bit writes, the byte is duplicated on the remaining 8 wires. That means if you write a byte to address x, the same byte suddenly appears at address x+1, overwriting what x+1 was previously. The developers refer to this as the "8-bit write problem". It should be obvious that this makes RAM extensions hooked to the GBA slot bus useless for anything but read-only use, such as XIP.

It is already been tried with DSlinux to extent its RAM limitation (part for its web browser) by using the SC card RAM but it seems impossible...

Alright, here's a translation pack I made. It includes Translated text, translated HTML documents (which you can view, but unless you put all the images and .css files on the root drive, it won't look right), edited images, and a little something extra. To use, Download DSLazy and unpack the Opera Browser ROM and then extract this RAR INTO the data folder. It should ask to overwrite some files, say yes to all, and then repack it with DSLazy. Simple as that. You can run the ROM in DeSmuMe to see if the error message was translated to english.

The language file you linked to is the only thing I've seen, I've kept an eye on GBATemp but I haven't seen anything there.

I've looked through all the homebrew sites, most don't have anything on it, or some jerks saying just buy it, blah blah blah, wait till the english release, blah blah blah blah... FAGS....

Well, I'm sure someone is up for the challenge.

Thundrestrike

all we hear is "somebodys gotta do it"

but no one is acting (that i know of)
I bet someone here can do it..

if you have any programming skills at all, just try it! it might turn out to not be that hard

whos gonna take it on?

most of the people with programming skills are busy doing something else like game ports and more homebrew apps.

AnalogMan

Well there is this

刚PM了JYX,他说会解决的,不知道是不是真的,如果是真的希望不要太久.

应该说类似于与GBA联动
真要模拟内存的话还是要用到256PSRAM

Form Chisese M3 Offical Forum
Someone PM to JYX,then JYX tell him that M3 will solve this.

This will need GBAunion function.
To simulate the memoey,we will need to use 256PSRAM.

sorry to my poor english.
"I just PMed JYX and he said he'll resolve the problem. I don't know if it's
true or not but, if it's true then I hope we don' t have to wait long.

Should work like the GBA Link function. If it really can emulate the memory
cartridge, it'll still need 256 PSRAM."

Sounds good. It should really work in theory.

so something is being done? and what is 256 PSRAM? is it something separate that i need?

i hope whatever they do, it can be done on supercard as well

PSRAM is like a combination of SRAM (present in Supercard) and DRAM, which has higher density. This is good cause The Supercard does have SRAM, however if they mean 256 MB of RAM (I wonder if 256 PSRAM is what the GBA RAM Extension Cartridge is) then that seriously is a problem, cause the Supercard only has 1/8 of that.

(Edit: However if they mean 256 Mbit of RAM, that's perfect, cause 256 Mbit is 32 MB)

And is supercard gonna jack their idea afterwards?  :)

AnalogMan

Well, since they say it uses the GBA Link feature in M3 (didn't know M3 had that feature) then there must be a GBA rom they have to release and Supercard users will obviously get their hands on it to see what makes it so special.
