DS Lite Close call...

Just today, I let my younger brother play Mario Kart on my white DS Lite, and I must say he was the worst thing that ever happened to my poor baby...
Cos' earlier, he got bored and started painting some pokemon figurines with poster colour paint...oh, how that red paint will stay with me in my nightmares for a while...
Although I had specifically told him to clean his hands before playing with my DSL, I doubt he did a very good job of it. Because by the time I got it back, there were smudges of red paint all over the matte finishing, especially the around the XYAB buttons (plus the R button too)! Heck, there was even a partial fingerprint on the hinge to the right of the mic!
Panicking and breaking out my cleaning cloth straight away, I was pleasantly suprised that with just a little extra bit of effort, the paint was coming right off the DSL and onto the cloth (whether it was because the paint was dry when it rubbed off or a easy-clean feature of the DSL surface, I have no idea)

Having dodged a bullet, my thoughts returned to a clip (of a guy and a girl hosting on GTV) where the dude went berserk on a white DSL to show 'how fragile it is'.

So I'd like to ask everybody: What's the worst thing you have done/ let someone do to your DS/DSL?

thats nintendo products for you, they can go through quite alot before breaking reminds me of a clip i saw where they put the 3 current gen consoles to the test with a sledg hammer and dropping off the top of a ladder and the gcn was the only one that would power on after all the tests

Ah yes, the 'scientific' grrl reviewer. I would have bet my house and the cow on the x-box before watching it.

But for cringe-worthy vid champion, it has got to be that gut-wrenching 'DSLite touch screen stress test'...

I dropped my DS on the concrete once.  I got a couple of little marks beside the right button but eveything works fine.  I was also reading a newspaper while playing FF1 not realizing my fingers were getting black from the ink.  I saw this black mess next to the D-pad but it cleaned right off without a problem.  I have can see that my L and R buttons are a little discoloered.  I have't figured out how to clean them yet...

I gave my sister DS with nintendogs - now my touchscreen looks like ice-rink after winter.

Same here.
I lend my DS to my little sister (12) to play Nintendogs. And she hit it so hard to educate her dog, that a part of the touchsreen now deflect the stylus calibration.

well......
I took apart my Lite to change the mother board.
When I put it back together I accdently mixed up two of the screws and use a longer one in the wrong place. I went straight through the casing to the other side so I now have a nice neat hole above the keypad.
Still works though  :D
Maybe I'll buy a skin to cover it up.

Ever considered carefully hammering the sides in, then using liquid paper (or cement or something) to seal it up?

Devil_Spawn

can you link me to the review thingy???

ImmortalNinja

Meh, its not that big a problem.
And I have fun telling people its a reset switch.

Bit of a resurection of the thread. But I thought I'd say never play Ouendan if you don't want your touchscreen to look like, as Zap put it, an ice-rink after winter. There's a part of the songs which encourage you to move the stylus in a circle on the screen as fast as possible and towards the end of the game's the songs get rather hard and can have up to 5 circly things per song. So needless to say you get that ice-rink effect :(.
