Fixing your bricked SC (bricked by the old-new 1.63 update)

Many of you seem to have bricked their SC with the old version of the latest firmware upgrade.
This can be fixed if you have the correct hardware.

You will need another method to boot homebrew (other then your supercard).
Some of these methods are:
-WifiMe+other GBA media card (GBA flash card, M3, whatever)
-PassMe/PassMe2/NoPass + other GBA media card (GBA flash card, M3, whatever)
-WMB (you will need to remove the RSA check)

If you are capable of booting homebrew, boot this application:
http://darkfader.net/ds/files/flashmp.rar
Remove your GBA media (adapter) card and insert your SC.
Follow the instructions on screen.

Once the application is done your SuperCard will be reflashed to version 1.52.

Download the latest FW from the SuperCard website and flash your SuperCard with that again.
It should go fine now.

Hope this helps!

Just for everyone out there... can you give a step-by-step instruction of how to do it? That way there is no confusion. Also, can this also work with another  working Supercard as the homebrew boot device?

Scor

That pretty much is the step by step guide.
1. put flashmp.nds on your GBA media card (according to the requirements of your GBA media card).
2. Boot it (NDS MODE)
3. put your bricked SC in your DS (removing the other GBA media card)
4. follow the instructions on screen.

Another SC can be used as boot media (just append ndsloader.bin, I would upload a supercard version if the upload function would work)

too bad another card is needed to do this, I dont have one and no one else i know does either.

Hi, here is my list of hardwares that I have right now:

1. DS Phat (Flashme)
2. SC MiniSD (Bricked becuz of 1.63 update)
3. SC CF (if i can borrow from my cousins)

I dont have a passme thing and was wandering if I can use this method to unbricked my SCminiSD, as kindly mentioned by Scor. And does it necessary that you must have passme to load up a homebrew apps ? Can I load flashmp.nds from my cousins SC CF on my DS and use the cart swapping method ? Thanks in advance...

Scor

Yea sorry, like I mentioned in my post, you just need to boot NDS homebrew.
So FlashMe is fine too.
Hope you can get yours working again!

Another thing you may want to try:

If, when you pull out your flash card and put the supercard in the NDS, it may power off. Just make sure you're plugged in with the AC adapter and it should swap just fine.

Thanks a lot Scor for the tips. I wrote up a further guide on how I got my EZFlash II cart to boot FlashMP in this forum. Same process, but I listed every single step I did.

Maybe if you have no passme device to put in the DS slot, a real DS cart may suffice.
Yes I'm mad

I live in Brazil and the SC-CF i own was distributed by a brazilian seller, Emumaniacos.

As shown, they replace the label from SC and the back of cartridge is plain, no inscriptions or whatever.
How can i say if my SC has MX or CB thing before i try to upgrade?
Where i live, people don't even know what a DS is. I have 0 possibility of getting another flash cart :(
I need to know exately what to do when upgrading.

BTW, what happens if a MX SC tryes to upgrade with the 1.63-b fix?

Haha, sorry. That's just so odd. You could always just use a screwdriver and open it up quick.

I dont think the SC CF is affected by this upgrade. All of the bricked ones are either SD or miniSD

shagus

hello, thanks for all your tips and helps. From my understanding, I just need to run the flashmp.nds from my SC CF, plug-in the powers, run it, and swap it. I havnt try yet becuz I have yet to meet my cousin 2nite. Becuz I havent run homebrew softwares before so the PassMe, and SuperPass thing is a little bit confusing for me  :?

But anyways, will try it out tonite and we'll see how it goes

Scor

It's the same way as booting a NDS rom/backup, only you put a homebrew file on the supercard (don't use the SC software, but just put it on the CF/SD yourself).
