Has anyone played doom 1 on nightmare yet? I try but it says "Are you sure? This skill level isn't even remotely fair. Press Y to continue" or something along those lines.  But I assume the "Y" is y on a PC keyboard so is there any way to get it working?  I tried pressing everything on the ds but nothing works...

It's easy! Give it a try!  First unzip the DS Doom files to the root of your SD/CF.  Then you can download the shareware version of Doom from the many sources including the above mentioned links (actually the ftp seems to be swamped now, heh). Doom shareware shouldn't be hard to find.

The Doom shareware install program is a DOS based program.  You should be able to run it from the XP command prompt, or some other DOS Box.  The Doom install program will ask you to specify a drive and directory on your PC, just choose C: (or something) and install in the DOOM_SE directory.  After Doom is installed on your PC you will find a DOOM1.WAD in the DOOM_SE directory.  Copy DOOM1.WAD to the root of your SD/CF and then rename it to just plain DOOM.WAD.  You should now be ready to play DS Doom.

thanks I will try that, I got the Goldeneye version to work so far though. :)

A bit of nostalgia here.  This is one the first things I check when measuring the purity of a Doom engine port.  This small glitch in the doom map (floor) has existed since the original release of Doom shareware for DOS.  Obviously the DS Doom engine is faithfully recreating the Doom experience both good and bad.  BTW this small bug was proof that John Carmack (original Doom creator) is not a god.

the graphics look quite nice on the goldeneye version

just thaught i'd let you all know it works perfectly with the supercard lite, just use the "moomshell" converter that came with the original sc lite software. all of the wads i've tryed work, and ive got as fair collection of them :) i love doom, and now i have it on the go without having to use my *spit* psp. but surely there has got to be a way to get the midi's to play on the ds... also i found the config needed a bit of tweeking, in that 8 channels for sound sometimes means something gets cut out, and the controlls need a bit of working with to get auto map and the like accesible. otherwise, this is what ive always wanted on my ds, a fantastic piece of hombrew gold!!

I've been mucking about with the source to get an EZ4 version working, I also made a "hardcoded" version of the normal flashcarts version which will run out of a /doom/ directory without wads on the root...

That was nice of you ratx.  Having any luck getting DS Doom to work with EZ4?  Are you trying to add GBFS support?

cool, like what youve done, means i can now run two different wads without needing to rename them with dsorganise, thats something that needs to be added, the option of selecting the wad to use, like a list selection or something. anyway, i like this the already good port is beign made better already :) joy to the world, for doom is revived! oooooooooh the nostalgia!
