OS 3.0 SP4 + Animal Crossing = filesystem corruption

I think I found quite a dangerous bug in SuperCard DS ONE OS 3.0 SP4 patcher, which breaks the filesystem.

The problem is that after upgrading the OS from 3.0 SP3, 1479 - Animal Crossing: Wild World (v1.1) couldn't load the save file. That made me think that it just somehow got corrupted so I replaced it with a backup, which, as I soon discovered, also couldn't be loaded.

I decided to do some research, starting with creation of a new town and saving the game. However, that led to another problem: after rebooting I couldn't acces the whole card!

Please turn off NDS!
My panic didn't cease after connecting the memory card to a PC as Windows informed me that it's unformatted. No luck under Linux either.

After some more experiments the results are:
- This happens on USA 1.1 and EUR version (didn't test JAP or USA 1.0 yet).
- Affects both FAT16 and FAT32.
- Only Animal Crossing save file and some critical parts of FAT are getting corrupted, other files seem to stay intact.
- Fix: Saving and loading works fine when save patch is turned off in patcher options.

I've got only one SCDS (v2) and one memory card (2 GB Kingston Japan) so can anyone confirm that it isn't just me? (Please remember to make a backup of all important data!)

Thanks for the heads up - will wait and see if anyone else reports this

You could try the updated ndspatch.dat file that fixes some errors with saving.

But don't get the 18th July repack from the supercard site because brilliantly SC forgot to put the updated ndspatch.dat actually in it ... sorry but..... deeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr SC team

I know I'm late as hell on this but I decided to play AC again. Unfortunately I'm having this exact same problem. I've tried using both 1.0 and 1.1 roms and my save doesn't get detected and my filesystem gets corrupted in which case I have to reformat the card altogether.

Has this been fixed? If so, how??

754boy

Ok, the latest ndsinfo.dat and ndspatch.dat did nothing to fix this error. Please, if anyone with a SCDS1 using the latest OS is playing this game, please let me know how you got it to work. I need my AC fix!!!  :tard:

Hmmmm I would also like to know. I downloaded this to play but I don't want to mess everything up. I also would like to be able to use savestate with it.

wow i haven't been here forever, and when i come here to ask why I can't get my wife's savefile for Doubutsu no Mori (she's japanese) with v3 SP4, it turns out I'm not the only one. Dang. We DO need a fix for this, because my wife is habitual with this game. See ya later, gotta downgrade again.

Hanafuda

bump.

seriously, was the Animal Crossing issue resolved by an updated ndspatch? If so, could the same fix be applied to doubutsu no mori (#0193)?? I'd really like to upgrade to SP4.

I'm still wondering the same thing. I STILL want my AC fix!!!  :'(

Ok, I hate to keep , but I really wanna start playing this again! Has this problem been addressed or am I going to have to go back to using an older service pack  :'(

SCDS-1 SDHC users, I have 'used' the game at the read of this thread and saved a few times and had no problems. It might be related only to certain models of SCDS-1 or memory cards. But try using this alternate DLDI patcher. http://dldi.drunkencoders.com/uploads/5/5d/Scdssdhc1.zip unzip and rename to dldi.bin and overwrite the one in your /scshell/ folder then try again. Non-SDHC users attempt the same with this file. http://dldi.drunkencoders.com/uploads/4/41/Scds2.dldi Please report back.

DLDI is for homebrew only.  Replacing the DLDI file that it autopatches with will not do anything for commercial DS games.

Beg your pardon. Am a bit confused? Then what was THAT thing that first gen devices like Supercard SD had to patch on the comp with every ROM and new carts like SCDS-1 automatically patch in memory?

myBlue

beg your pardon,

so there's still no way to play the game?

in me it's showed with patch disabled, but everything, I mean EVERYTHING in the game was slow. the sound, the animation, even when I press D-pad on the menu, the sound indicating the cursor's movement can be heard........few sec later!

It's just I wanna try the game and confused :(
