Seems there is a USB stick which allows games to be dumped to the hard drive and run from there.

Bout time! Down side to this, the maker says Sony can block this with a firmware update and that it will cost between $120 to $170. Just wait till someone buys and dumps this thing and release it to the public for free.

guessing this is a hardware reliant/software dongle and not just software the code is out there and confirmed useless without the proper hardware

its a developer dongle apparently that allows the running of unsigned code and no doubt each will have its own digital fingerprint so can be blocked on a per user basis the clones will have all the same code muchlike other hardware hacks

Seems that it has been reversed engineered and the first clone will be out shortly (PS3Stinger) at half the price.......

I wouldn't recommend buying one of these (clones) until there is more information.  I find it hard to believe PS3 can be hacked without needing to take the PS3 apart. Sony really messed up making it so easy. Seems easier than Pandora for PSP.  I'm also surprised this "developer dongle" hasn't been leaked until now.

Its real. Mathieulh has had a chance to look it over and says it IS possible to run this from a PSP, they just need to make the usb driver for it. I have a feeling that sooner rather then later we will have a free version that runs from the PSP.

Well everything is on hold at the moment due to the Sony legal action in Australia- they claim it has their source code but the manufacturers deny this.

It appears that the mode of action is somehow forcing the USB slot into thinking it is a hub, which gets around everything! If that's the case, it is probably very easy to patch.

fexo

Seems that everyone is now making their own device using a programmable USB stick and the source code (the ability to play back-ups was removed, but someone rapidly put it back.......)

DeVS

Ya there are schematics to make your own out now as well as the software to run. The PSP version is 15% done according to developers. We could easily see a version of this that runs off the PSP by the weekend. Good times!

Problem is getting the USB programmer; seems everywhere is now sold out and the prices are shooting up....

Been following the PSGroove thread over at PSX Scene which is now up to 50 pages. Also tipped a guy off where to buy in bulk in the UK, so he is going to make money on ebay.

Any links to UK sources would be appreciated - got a Teensy on the way from US.. but..

bitblt - there is a breakdown of the exploit at http://ps3wiki.lan.st/index.php?title=PSJailbreak_Exploit_Reverse_Engineering

Seems it isn't just an image of the jig thing afterall

The chap that I tipped off bought a load from Ashlea.co.uk . These are wholesalers so you need to buy quite a few if they have any left!
