EDIT. hmm maybe this topic should be moved to off topic.

blueoakleyz

just bought my DS last week and honestly this one has nothing to make me say damn wish I waited
actually the opposite, my sleek, futuristic looking electric blue DS is just awesome, plus supercard support

nori2nori

Passme2 and Flashme will not work like a charm on Nintendo DS Lite.

MAD2X

Thanks for the link, it's funny how nintendo denied it at first when lik-sang came out with the rumors. I wonder if it will still be able to run supercard with flashme, I have a feeling nintendo probably added some security on that baby. It sure looks nice though, but those pics are photoshoped, it probably wont be available till next christmas.

awwww man that's crap

i just got a white ds imported from lik-sang

this news disapoints me dearly

now im going to have 3 ds' once i buy this new one

fablebyte

Wow, the rumours were true.  A DS SP indeed.  I'll wait and see if the Supercard is compatible with it before thinking of buying.

4 levels of screen brightness, like the PSP.  Nice.

Yep, and I would guess you can say goodbye to the DS as you know it (our beloved original) not too long after this one comes out. I would imagine that flashing is going to be much more difficult. Stock up on the classic machine now!

I reckon SL1 will still be there cause i reckon they use it to flash the ds's quickly rather than taking the case off and having to flash em that way. Makes it easier to reflash a ds if someone has killed the firmware and sent it to nintendo

bbennett69

Correct me if I am wrong but the latest batch of NDSs the SL1 link is covered by plastic? So I assume the DS Lite will be the same.

So, you think Nintendo will sacrafice continued piracy on their new, redesigned console, just so they can make their lives easier in the repair department? Yeah right...

As for the SL1 covered....I am not aware of any units like this. Can anyone confirm? I believe it to be rumor, and believe we have had that discussion in the past.

I've been wondering about the SL1 rumour for a while - never seen any proof or a photo though so assumed it to be FUD. I thought they might release a version without the GBA slot myself...

Good question. I read nothing about the Lite having/not having a GBA slot. The removal of the slot may be one way to help acheive the slimness, and unfortunately illiminate the use of the Supercard permanently.

If they removed the GBA slot they'd negate the use of games that have the ability to use gba accessories and games, i.e. the rumble pack, pokemon dungeon thing(you can use gba game with it)

why say goodbye? they'll both still play the same games and such, the only thing this one improved over the original is the adjustable brightness, i don't give a shit to design, and jesus all i can think off is that they left this feature out of the original on purpose just so they could kindof justify a redesign, i mean seriously, how hard is to think on adjustable brightness, it was a must if you ask me, i remenber right after getting my DS(wich is a true original 1.0 FW hehe) i was really disappointed for not having some way to adjust brightness

i guess they'll have this one ready a little before revolution, sorta to make a combo release and have one system kinda setting the market for the other, if you pay attention the design resembles a lot the revolution design, so they'll use the rev/ds interaction as a marketing estrategy

i see no readon to buy this, spend another 120 bucks for more brightness on the screen is pretty stupid in my opinion

nah, i read somewhere it still holds a gba slot, the ds need it man, as someone said in another post, there are several plans for ds gba slot interaction
and if it actually got rid of the gba slot well then im glad i got my original DS
SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.
