The offical chinese website of the offical gba movie player has stated that 2 brand new players will be released.

Here are the details (in chinese)
G6flash card: http://www.gbalpha.com/gbalpha/GBAMedia3/G6.htm
M3 card: http://www.gbalpha.com/gbalpha/GBAMedia3/M3.htm

Only the M3 card can expand its memory by using CF or SD card. However G6 is like a normal flashcard, so it is more compact.

Comparision of their 2 cards with supercard (in chinese): http://www.gbalpha.com/gbalpha/GBAMedia3/table.htm

They claim that the G6 and M3 can played gba games which requires no patching unlike supercard, no slowdown on all games, support RTC (real time clock) and RTS (real time save), able to play movies encoded by crystal engine, play NDS games with their passkey (passme), nice GUI interface, approximated battery life of 9 hours compared to supercard, etc.

Maybe romman should consider making the new playfilm.bin now.
 love SC! :D

Having SCCF, SCSD, SCminisd, SCDS, M3CF, M3SD (the large one), M3minisd, G6 lite and gamebank128M

Minger

...sweet...

I'll get whichever of the two is better...er, 3 (those 2 and supercard)

Wonder what the price will be?

wudi

Well they claim that in the table G6 and M3 are far better than SC. In fact they have banners and links(http://www.gbalpha.com/GBalpha/GBAMedia3/choose.htm)
on their website asking the consumers to choose their products instead of supercard and to distingish between the their products and supercard.

They also make a comparsion between G6 and M3 so that comsumers know which to get.

BTW the section is rather new, thus not much details on the price are given.

The chinese and the english websites offers useful software and even converted movies for viewing. So the competition is quite tough for supercard.

am the new way to go, I am the way of the future.

Ramin

Yeah, same here...

I think this forum should eventually evolve to accomodate discussion of all three players.

Ramin

Wow... I just went through the comparison charts...

NDS touch screen menu!

"NES/SNES/GB/GBC/SMS/GG/PCE... "

WAITAMINNIT! SNES GAMES!!! NO WAYYYYYYYYYY! Oh dear Lord...

wudi

you need the snes emulator, rather a rom maker to produce a .gba file from .smc file to play snes games, however no sound though.  It is good that the makers of GBAMP are trying very hard to make G6 and M3 compatible with DS, after all some NDS games do use the touch screen.

It will have be using the SNESAdvance emulator which has extremely low compatibility and no sound.

Ramin

You guys serious? How do you know it uses SNESAdvance? It may use a form of SNES9x. After all, the PSP already has a version of SNES9x out.

SNESAdvance is the only SNES emulator for the GBA that exists.

Minger

What if they have been secretely developing something?

...being hopeful never hurt.

Yes, but this also uses the DS function of the DS, so it may be using that, especially since it does use the DS's touch-screen capability.

I'm referring to the M3, by the way. The one that has the DS card AND the GBA SD slot.

I dunno... just makes more sense that way.

Minger

that and hopeful support for the DS's extra 2 buttons to match the SNES.

onarum

you think those will be avaible at lik-sang or play-asia maybe?  it's the only way i can get them where I am.
SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.

DS capabilities be damned, there's no SNES emulator for the DS.  So it's got to be using SNESAdvance.
