I'll readily admit that a portable SNES is the holy grail of gaming, but it's just not happening quite yet.

SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.

Well, on the Lik-Sang forums, on June 5th, this was released:

"The title says it all. I asked a few question, and I'm posting the answers. Most of you have probebly heard about the "M3" rumors, this should answer some questions on it.

[11:43:45] GCTonyHawk7: Hey.

[11:44:54] GCTonyHawk7: I was wondering if you knew what this was;

[11:44:55] GCTonyHawk7:
http://www.gbalpha.com/gbalpha/GBAm...IN_products.jpg

[11:46:11] GBA Media Player Support Center: is our new product, whitc in plan

--------------------------------------------

[11:47:02] GCTonyHawk7: Awesome, I like the silver look. I'm assuming it will come with a key (passthrough) for the DS?

[11:48:05] GBA Media Player Support Center: sorry i didn't have the particular information about it

--------------------------------------------

[11:48:38] GCTonyHawk7: Ahhhh. Well, I look forward to it. I hope you will still have Lik-sang support.

[11:49:20] GBA Media Player Support Center: in my opinion ,Lik-sang will support it soon

--------------------------------------------

[11:49:47] GCTonyHawk7: Awesome. I'll have to get a copy of it to review.

[11:50:16] GBA Media Player Support Center:

--------------------------------------------

[11:51:22] GCTonyHawk7: Do you know whether it will keep the same price-point?

[11:51:48] GBA Media Player Support Center: sorry ,i don't konw

--------------------------------------------

[11:54:11] GCTonyHawk7: Do you know when it will release? (Soon, I hope)

[11:54:36] GBA Media Player Support Center: may be in 30 days

--------------------------------------------

[11:55:10] GCTonyHawk7: :-o Sounds great. Will it have new conversion software, or will it use the same?

[11:55:31] GBA Media Player Support Center: the same

--------------------------------------------

[11:55:50] *** "GBA Media Player Support Center" signed off at Sun Jun 05 11:55:50 2005."

30 days from June 5th would be July 5th. But then again, the guy said "may be" [sic].

Ramin

Mind you, it's the G6 that'll be releasing this month (30 days), not the M3. That will be a bit longer.

onarum

oh well, i can wait, the SC will keep me entertained in the meantime.
but the M3 will kick SC SD's ass big time in my opinion.
SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.

Ramin

Yeah, it probably will...

But what one has to realize is how FRICKIN' long Supercard has been on the top... all things considering, I think Supercard totally kicked everything's *** all this time.

Forget the GBA MP, Play-Yan, and whatever. SC's been the monopoly of high-mem GBA gadgets.

indeed, I only got  mine recently though.

Has anybody checkout the highly claim M3 Mover Player.  It seems that they are now available according to their website from M3adapter.com

From the chart.  It claims to have far better battery life than the Supercard.  It also run NDS roms with the use of PassMe/MagicKey.

They even have the beta software that you can download to try out.

Anybody have used it ? Care to share any experience ?

I don't see anywhere in there that I can order it?  I'd love to be a guinea pig.
The SC battery life hasn't bothered me yet.  Esp sine I have the PSP to compare to.  THat handheld is a battery hog but it's one helluva emulator system.
The beta software is not much of an improvement to my AMD system.

alias_neo

Really impressed with the features of the M3. If its compatible with PassMe/MagicKey, does that mean it'll be compatible with future full DS games or is it too early to tell?either way, i think i'll sell mine soon and get me one of them sexy M3s.

Hectic

i've been waiting months for a revision of the supercard before buying one.  finally the sd version came but didn't solve a single problem.  luckilly this thing exists.  it's the ultimate solution if everything they say is true.  it's got my support.  now, where to buy... :?

The Supercard is very popular in china (Many stores don't even stock GBAMP at all!). Basically the Supercard is a more “Pirate” friendly version of the GBAMP. When given the choice, why buy a gimped GBAMP card vs a Supercard? From what I hear in Shanghai, the M3 is a Chinese only version of the movie card designed to take back this lost market share. Basically the M3 adds the extra so called "Pirate" ability which let the Supercard crush GBAMP in terms of sales in China. The bad news is (depending if your Chinese or not), because they are fighting a "Pirate" war with the Supercard company, no M3's will be released outside of China.

Though if you live in a place like Toronto, and can speak Chinese, im sure Chinese stores will get stock eventually. :-) If you can't speak Chinese and buy stuff from Lik-Sang, it might be impossible since those places were sued by Nintendo and other companies for selling pirate material.

The people you heard that from must be from the Supercard fans :)
I've been reading the Lik Sang forums (and others) and they will ship it to anyone and everyone willing to sell it.
How this is going to be compatible with the DS games is beyond me.  The OS/menu will kill the ability to load games unless they have some way around this.  I hope it does everything they promised (unlike that Crystal Engine claim they made which didn't improve video at all, just the file size).
Yeah I'm disapointed the SD version is hardly any better than the CF version.   Typical chinese product where they focus far too much attention to price rather than performance/quality.

Well, you odviously missed the previous post (Which was deleted for talk about piracy) which stated:

"The M3 will not be available outside of china...", "... the reason for this, as I understood it, was due to some changes in the way games were handled. I don't know the specifics, but it probably violated some copyright law somewhere. To quote my source: "because with M3 you can play games. no limit". Anyway. That’s the final word on it. DEDE, from .com, was not fully informed on the subject, which is where the first source of information came from. Joann then began telling people that M3 doesn't exist to counter this, since it wasn't making a release outside china."

As you can see, even the lik-sang forums (If that means anything) also supports what I just mentioned. Lik-sang and other retailers were sued multiple times for selling gray market devices like flash copiers and mod chips. In the rare case some English stores do manage to import anything, you can be sure there will be no English translation/manual/localization of it.

As far as I read from Chinese forums, GBAMP has no intention to officially release or sell outside of China. This goes as far as to tell sales reps to deny the products existence (For simplicity) if foreign customers ask about it (As supported by the above quoted comment from the lik-sang forums).
