Try playing a game that you dont remember too well.  I have a terrible memory.  I'm playing FF7 right now and I find myself saying "I don't remember that part", all the time. :)

Try the new packaging software.  It now comes with a nifty GUI :).  Also, you can always resurect your games using CWCheat.  W:):)t for 50000 AP after each battle!

Wow, Hey I'd not considered a psp seriously but like xbox 1, if they get the emulators I want sorted it will be impossible to resist !

So what quality / state are the 8 & 16bit emulators in at the moment for it ?

Xbox emu's are pretty darn good as they were ports of windows emulators which have taken a very long time to get as good as they are, I'd not get it if Snes or Megadrive emulation is half arsed.

PSX emulation is perfect now thanks to darkalex.  SNES emulation still has more that can be done, a lot of games still do not run smoothly but they are playable.  NES perfect.  Genesis and SMS perfect.

fls_27, you make the couple of games that can't run well on snes9xtyl sound like there's tons :P only really starfox, mario kart and a few other mode7 or superfx games still suck. most emus are perfect on psp.

The one that needs most work is n64, and gba is also running beautifully now, with tons of games fullspeed with sound. In the future I'd like to see sega cd put in an appearance I guess.

I only use my ds for goomba and sms now in terms of emu. The small screen size is perfect for gamegear, gbc, and gb. Playing those on psp is pointless. They just look disgusting.

Nah... its not that they dont run, its just that they don't run perfect.  Don't get me wrong I sometimes enjoy playing FF3 on my PSP :).  Its just that the choppy motion really gets to me.  After I heard the music on the FF3 DS port I gotta admit that I was upset.  It doesnt even sound close to the real thing.  Atleast on the PSP i can get the original music but I also get the choppy frame rate.

Cheers for the info, I must confess I'm a frame rate whore - I can't play any emu with frame skip - it's just hideous! guess I was spoilt by playing the originals and then insisting they play as well :-)

So can the snes emu do all games without DSP / SFX chips perfectly including stereo sound ? are we talking Fully playable SNES FF3 (IV) and Axelay etc ?

I'm a little confused about your FF3 DS port note, wasn't FF3 DS a port of the nes japanese one, Never played that before.

If Sony would only stop screwing with the bios on the psp, their monthly bios releases, and new games requiring them leaving every thing in a constant state of flux really sucks.  If they would spend time making good games for the psp, rather than trying to figure out how to stop 2% of the people from copying their games, they could have a super system.

Final Fantasy 6  (3USA) is fully playable using the latest TYL release with kernel support on frameskip 1. Many games do not require frameskip at all, though some of the more graphics heavy games (donkey kong 1, though strangely not 2 or 3) do require a frameskip of 2 maximum.

Genesis emu is utterly flawless.

Here's another peach... CPS1 and CPS2? Also perfect. Scummvm is flawless with ALL games supported by pc scumm, even the broken sword games.

For anyone with christmas pennies to spend... I seriously recommend a PSP from ebay (make sure it's downgradable or 1.50) and a 4gb sandisk memory stick from buy.com (or buy a few, only $65 through google checkout)

An update on tonights tested titles. Final Fantasy 7 though 9 all play perfectly. I didn't detect one bit of slowdown. and as far as I can tell, the emu is running on the 266mhz setting.

DeVS

Buy.com doesn't have the 4gigs for $65, the cheapest I saw them for was $99 US dollars.

The emulator I have is a port of SNES 9x, and its compatibility is about as spot on as the PC version. Unfortunately the PSP isn't quite fast enough to emulate some of these games at 60FPS. Donkey Kong Country and Chrono Trigger are right out, pretty much unplayable. FF6 is playable with a bit of slowdown. I haven't tried FF4 but I'll bet it's fine. And so on.

Is it worth getting a PSP just for the emulators? At 333Mhz probably not. Are they a cool bonus if you already want a PSP? Sure.
