Donkey Kong Country and Chrono Trigger are right out, pretty much unplayable.
i wouldn't say donkey kong country is unplayable. i didn't get it to a perfect state, but i managed to find the right combo of settings to get through the game. i'm not the type that likes playing slowed down games with the choppy graphics, but i had no problem playing donkey kong, speed was good, the graphics were a bit of a problem.

OK.  You can quote me on this.  I love FF3 US (FF6 JP).  I have completed too many times to count and I can honestly say that it is a tragedy to play on the PSP with SNES Emulation.  If you don't mind having frameskip on 1 and slowdowns in the beginning of battles, then you are in for a treat.  For all the other perfection maniacs like me that want perfect emulation with no lag and slowdown, don't say I did'nt warn ya.  This is in no way a flame.  I am just pointing out that it is not perfect.  People come here for information and I intend to give out proper information.  Also, Secret of Mana has some noticeable text errors at the beginning of the game but the game is playable.

so around how many games can you fit on one 4gig stick? PSone games I mean of course

sneef

well, at the moment, darkalex hasn't reverse-engineered the sony compression used on the official ps1 eboots.  So your ps1 eboots created from ISO's will be around the same size as the full disc image.

So if your games are between 500-700MB, then you can fit around 5-7 games on a formatted 4GB MSDuo.

once DarkAlex discovers the compression used on the official playstation store eboots, we'll be able to compress our eboots as well.

Mal'ganis

that'll be nice, still this is flippin sweet

sweet i might get a psp just for this if i can get one for cheap, cuz i have a huge collection of ps1 games and playing tomba! on the go = win

To those who are wanting a PSP for this, remember that you can't just go out and buy a PSP. It has to be firmware revision 2.7 or lower to be able to downgrade the firmware to the point where you can upgrade to this custom firmware(convoluted, I know) and you now have a very slim chance of getting one of these at the store.

I went on eBay and searched for things like "psp 1.5" or "psp homebrew" to find the one I have now but be prepared to pay extra for that because people know 1.5 is valuable.

Thundrestrike

to make things easy, just buy a 1.5

because if you buy like a 2.7 or something, you have to mess with downgraders, understanding Ta-082's, certain eLoaders, and more

So, just get a 1.5 and upgrade to 3.02 OE-B custom firmware 8)

I finally upgraded to 3.02 OE-B this weekend. It works great! My kids have been enjoying some PS1 ISOs I made of Crash and Spyro using Popstation. My existing 1.50 emulators seem to still work fine too. I love how the 3.02 firmware lets me boot ISO's and homebrew directly from XMB without using Devhook. The whole system seems less hacked now and I can even use the Browser and hopefully PS3 features. I can't think of any reason why anyone would want to keep using Devhook and 1.50 firmware. Besides, the 3.02 OE-B firmware can recover back to 1.50 if needed.

Actually, firmware 2.80 was made downgradable just a few days ago.  The majority of PSP's out their have 2.80 or lower, so your pretty safe as long as your not buying from a brand new shipment.  And even if you accidentally do, you can always just bring it back into the store.

Finally have a chance to play FF9 for the first time now :D.  Not bad, not bad at all.

Whats the best GBA emu for the PSP? I was wondering if any of them can play Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga perfectly?

Last time I checked the psp couldn't even properly emulate pokemon. But i reckon they must have made at least some progress.

GPSP 0.9 is the fullspeed with sound emu. Give it a try devs, I only set i up for my friend who doesn't own a gba or ds.
