Im tired of these crap games released for the gba. i mean once in a blue moon a good game with reasonable graphics will come out. Pokemon...crap is so repetitivly boring. the Final Fantasy Advance series with "graphical updates" is the same damn this as the snes versions ect. ect. sure there are a few differences but hey, look at golden sun, or if anyone has played broken sword. The gba can push much more that then developers push it. god. I rant about this because the DS is to big to carry around same as the psp. I got's me a gbmicro, on my key chain. =) but yeah. maybe ill take up video game programming and remake the ff series in some isometric mode or 2d 3d mode. eh whatever.

With the DS out in full force I think the days of the GBA are over. There might be a few good games left but most of the remaining GBA games are going to be cheap movie tie ins and kids games. But there are a lot of good GBA games already out.

so true, sad to see the gba go, but hey i got a psp and a dslite too. so i guess whenever im ready to move on i can.

It's had a good lifetime... It's in what... year 6? That's like living to be 100 in console years.

Gleasonator

There are really no good games coming out anymore. :( I've seen none that I said "Wow. That will be a classic." aside from Twilight Princess. I feel like the Wii will have a better future than the others though.

New DS games suck... new PSP games suck... new PS3 games suck... XBOX games have always sucked XD... looks like the Wii may be bringing good games back though, which I am thankful for.

Most games released suck. It's always been that way, though it does seem to be getting worse now. There have been good games coming out all around though. Hotel Dusk for the DS is nice. Gurumin for the PSP looks like it has potential. Lost Planet for the 360 is cool.

I think those of us with Supercards get a twisted view of DS games because we get exposed to things like Nacho Libre and Elf Bowling on an almost weekly basis.

You're probably right on that last part... OK you are right on that last part.

Being who we are, we see everything that's released, and only about one in fifty games are worth playing. :( God I don't know, I just hope it get's better. I think that Super Nintendo and N64 were the height of Nintendo's career. So hopefully we'll see more games like those, and Capcom making more Zelda games. XD (Seriously! Capcom and Nintendo together made some awesome 2D Zeldas. Very similar to Link to The Past)

Hi

Give me a knowlege of how to program, and I swear I could breathe new life into the gba. People are saying it's primitive. That's it's life is over.

But here is the other side of things. You can buy a gba for about $40! Only $40, less then a supercard! (excluding scrumble) The gba is great for people who like to play games every once in a while, but not often enouph that they can offord to spend, what, $100 on an nds.

And the gba is great. The only important thing it really lacks is a 3-d card and maybe a good quality sound card/speakers. But the gba is powerful enouph to do many things. There is life left in the gba yet, and I'm very sad to see it go. I think that game developers would push the gba more. Then they'd be able to see it's full potential.

More like year 18.  I haven't bought a GB since GB Color, but didn't the first GBA (before the SP makeover) support all Game Boy games back to '89?

the SP also played most if not ALL GB games and GB color games AFAIK  :)

It only stopped at the DS because they made the slot thinner that the fatter gb and gbc carts would not fit  :(

Has anyone tried taking a GB cart to bits and trying it in the GBA slot on a ds to see if the PCB works or not !?

That won't work because GB and GBC games need a z80 processor to run. The DS only has ARM7 and ARM9 processors. The GBA/SP has ARM7 and z80 processors. The GBA Micro has ARM7 only.

Gleasonator

So... is it possible to stick a z80 in there without changing the whole PCB layout?

sigh... no.  what use would it be to just stick a processor in there?  that's like sticking an IBM powerPC cpu (the kind Apple used to use until recently) into an AMD PC and expecting it to be able to run Macintosh software.

The BIOS and other controllers on the mainboard have to be aware of, and function alongside, whatever processors are plugged into the board.

The hardware input and output devices (input-gamepad, buttons, etc. output-video, audio, etc.)  need to be logically connected to the processor.

Try not to be too exasperated... Most people still think computers run on some sort of magic. ^_^ They don't realize just how complex these things are on a software and hardware level.
