9) Moonshell built into the OS, play games, video and music directly
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't the R4 and M3 Simply menus based off of Moonshell as well?  My friend told me he just added music to his R4 but hadn't added any other homebrew programs, so I'm assuming you can just use the R4 firmware to play music, meaning that Moonshell is behind it all from the get-go.

Quote12) Boot slot2 directly from slot1 OS with L+B hot keys (very nice :) )
I thought that was one of the additions made with the recent R4 firmware update - the ability to launch both slot-2 homebrew devices and regular GBa games through the menu.
Quote13) Built in Cheat and Guide system, with most cheats already included, supports dipstar and action replay .cht files
I know the R4 does support cheats, though I'm not sure to what extent.

All I'm saying is that you're slightly exaggerating the SCDS features.  I'll admit it's a pretty decent upgrade, and the SCSD is now very easy to recommend to others, but it doesn't make the R4 obsolete.

Did you get saving to work? Minish Cap is running great but I was wondering how to save lol.

With M3 and R4 they have a moonshell .nds files on the card that is started when you click the media icon instead of game or boot to slot 2 icon.

Not as far as I understand it. You can launch Moonshell from the R4 interface, but the OS isn't moonshell. With SCDS1 you can launch ROMs, homebrew, video, music, pictures, all directly from within the OS. The R4 actually has a nice flexible skin interface though.

Well, with any slot1 you can always run LoveLite to boot slot2 so the feature isn't a major big deal. I just like that it's built into the SCDS1 OS. If R4 does this then it is news to me. I've read there is a way to get R4  to work with the 3 in 1 expansion pack for EZV. That isn't the same thing though. There are allot of people from 2005-2006 who already own slot2 Supercards. SCDS1 integrates quite well with them, to launch GBA games directly from the OS, and run Opera without patching.

I know SCDS1, R4, and DS-Link all support cheat functions.  Only SCDS1 can do on-the-fly cheats and freeze a game to make changes then continue.  Also, only SCDS1 supports in-game Guide system.  Are these features something we can't live without? I think it's pretty cool because the Supercard team are the first to do it. The Supecard team have been fiirst at many things in the past.

Who is exaggerating here? I never implied R4 was obsolete. I said R4 is easy to use because it has fewer features and is also slightly cheaper. Relax and let SCDS1 have the spotlight for the moment. lol

someone tried the 3 in 1 expansion from ezflash on Supercard one?

If it can be made to work with R4 then it can be made to work with SCDS1 and other flash cards. I thought about ordering one and tinkering with it. However my SCDS1 and SC Lite combo pretty much cover everything I need. I personally prefer to have the extra ROM storage space on my SC Lite than the rumble feature found in the 3 in 1 expansion.

Quote from: "Cygoku"came to post about that, sad it's not using 1.71 !! :( Better DPG decoding,...
Well . . . we can always download the latest Moonshell 1.71 and run it the old fashion way . . . manually like with R4 and other flash cards.

What I did was download the new moonshell for R4 and Rename it in the rood  to _DS_MSHL something like that it was and overwritten it with the old one and now Moonshell 1.71 is the standard media player of my R4 =].

QuoteIs ratx going to make an update on the scone skinner?

I sold my scone and brought a R4 ;) so I'm unable to test out the skinner... has anyone tried it out? I'm thinking if you use
http://blog.dev-scene.com/ratx/archives/13 to make the new parts1 and 3 it _could_ just work ;)

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that statement.

The R4 was the first card to actually INTERRUPT a DS game IN PROGRESS and run code (the R4 interface).  They could have just as easily ran some other code (cheat, guides, whatever).  And yes, it's incredible that without ANY patching of I/O vectors or any rom modifications that the R4 was capable of doing this.  While the specific application of cheating in real time may go to SC, the actual methodology should be credited to R4 first.

Didn't the R4 beat the SCDS1 to cheat codes integrated too?  I didn't do the math on the release dates ...

I'm not trying to take away the limelight from Team Supercard.  They were just a bit too late for me to not have to migrate to the R4.  With the R4's being $29.99 and readily available, it makes it harder to recommend something else.

Also, has someone tested the card for 100% compatibility?  I know team R4 JUST got a couple of obscure japanese titles working.  Have those been tested on SCDS1?  I simply don't believe in "100% compatibility" (R4 included) and anyone claiming so I tend to discredit (I've been around long enough) :)
