I'm actually considering doing something like that, since I have an extra shell just laying around somewhere in my dresser.

It shouldn't be too hard, all that needs to be done is-

Materials needed:
-A simple design
-Pencil
-Plastic cutting tool
-Fine sandpaper
-Spraypaint
-Small Gold/Bronze/Silver sheet
-DS Shell
-Superglue

Directions
-Think of a simple design (use straight edges)
-Use a pencil to draw that design onto the spare shell
-Use some kind of tool to cut that design out of the shell
-Sand all the paint off
-Sand around the edges of what you cut, to make it look decent
-Get some plastic-spraypaint and coat it 3-5 times
-Run to the store (example- hobby lobby) and buy a small square gold or bronze or silver sheet (really inexpensive)
-Super Glue that sheet on the underside of the shell so that you can see the Gold/Bronze/Silver through your cut-out design
-Put together your DS shell with your custom top
-Show off your cool new and improved NDS!!

If someone gives me a good idea on a design I will do it too but not any triforce sign.  Also im trying to put leds in my DS like this psp has

but I cant find a spot for them.  My brother  did this exact same thing to his psp and it was realy easy for him.

what if you cut out the design on the top of the ds shell, and then put a clear piece of plastic perfectly fit for your design inside of it. Then put the LED's behind the plastic so that instead of metal sheets, it would be lit-up plastic?

Yea thats a great Idea I have a thin acrilic sheet of clear plastic but now I must think of a design.  and what to cut with.  I wonder if a dremal would work? my brother cut the back out of his psp with that and it look perfect but it could be because he sanded alot of it down

ive just took my ds apart to spray it & i was thinking of doing something to the shell while it was apart but i cant think of anything to do

My friend came over, but he wont get his dremel until later. I'm probably getting the metal tomorrow once my shell is cut

well i got my ds back together which took 3 times long than taking it apart
but even though i used gloss black spray it still looks dull so ive order a new shell of ebay for £7.50
(yeah i know i missed a bit) lol

i used a gloss black spraypaint, and it is just the OPPOSITE of dull!

It looks as shiny and glossy as a PSP!
I love it! before giving up, try a different spraypaint, you will like it.

Progress on the Tri-force-
I still havent cut it yet, but I have the marks ready to go. I found a dremel in my garage, but it doesnt have the right bits. I will have to wait until tomorrow when my friend brings his dremel.

I will probably get the silver sheet (yes i have decided silver because it matches the nintendo logo) tomorrow once it has been cut.

Does anyone know where I can get the screws that will fit in my DS? any of them the tri wing or the regular ones?  mine are all striped because the screws arnt very good quality especialy the ones that came with my ds shell.  I have descided to go with the Ds logo the one wiht the two screens then DS
