Will do ... I'm sorry I can't offer more right now (pics, etc) but I'm at work and won't be home for another six hours or so - I'm trying to keep people updated about the Lite as I discover stuff, because I know some of you are interested in reading more hands-on type stuff, but the disadvantage is that when I find stuff like this at work, and post it, I can't really follow up for a while. Sorry!

Anyway I'll put up some pics on my site tonight, and post them here too - this might turn out to be nothing at all, of course - but we'll see. From what daveychan and I have observed,  it looks  like more than just a slot cover. But, I'll be sure to update this thread later!

ps totaltoanage: congrats! I'm sure you'll love it, it beats the original DS hands down. Well worth the price, IMHO ... Enjoy! :)

OK, here's a quick shot showing the contact in the slot cover ...

Oh, yeah, and my new light-silver paint job on the SC ... Although, I just ordered a transparent white SC, so I'll post pics of it once it arrives - should be a good match for the Lite. I'm thinking of painting just the inside white, so that it's no longer translucent ...  8)

The slot cover actually has a bit of chipset? Neat.

I want mine so much. :P

My Sc matches so well with my blue DS...it's a shame I will have to change everything soon....
And everything is still so brand new!

By the way, those contacts on the GBA slot cover, could they be there just to keep pressure on the inside of the slot, like saving them from getting rusty or loose in some less then optimal enviromental conditions?
They could be fake contacts you know, just to make sure things don't move around too much...
I remember even back in the days of the iriginal GB mono they used to reccomend to keep a cartridge in the slot all the time.

You can see the pics here:

There are several colors available, I didn't know this until last week - so, I ordered a translucent white to go with my Lite ... I think I might paint the inside white, so that you can't see the RAM/board, etc ... I think it would be cool to be just plain old WHITE.

Thanks for your posts and info. I think we are all jealous of you :P . How is it to play? Is it more comfortable than the regular? Personally I find the regular too small already. I got a softshell case that I keep mine in and you leave it in while you play. It adds about 1cm on each side while you play and I find it's much, much more comfortable and eliminates hand cramps. I can only see the Lite being worse for hand cramps with the small size.

That's a good question. Actually, I've found the Lite to be more comfortable, despite the smaller size. I think part of the reason in that the corners are now rounded AND smooth - on the original DS, the top (colored) half of the unit was a little bigger than the bottom (black) half, so all of the corners had that sharp edge where the two halves met - the Lite doesn't have this, to the corners don't dig into your hand so much ...

I've been playing AC:WW almost exclusively since I got the Lite, so I haven't spent much time with button-controlled games. But with the stylus, the Lite is much better IMHO. The matte finish around the screens is great for wrapping a finger around and holding onto - sometimes I wrap my left thumb around and kind of hold on to the top (to the left of the top screen) ... Because the top is somewhat concave, the edges  are all raised, which makes it feel very secure when holding it like that. Maybe I'll try to take a pic later, it's kind of hard to explain. You can see the edges of the top half in this picture from Lik-Sang, if it helps at all. Also, for the people that like to wrap a thumb over the Supercard, you can hold the Lite the same way even without the SC inserted - the bottom screen is raised, too - so the area between the touch screen and the bottom of the Lite is a very comfortable place to rest your thumb. Plus, with the Lite being so ... well, LIGHT ... hehe, makes it very comfortable for stylus games.

As for button games, I can't really say. The top left and right trigger buttons seem a little small (and my left trigger button is quite noisy, I think it's only a matter of time before it breaks off completely) so that's one thing I prefer in the original DS. Also, because the top of the unit is so THIN, the top screen kind of makes a creaking noise when you clean it - I suppose you'll really have to be careful about flexing/stressing the top LCD. As for the matte finish around the screens - while it is very comfortable and easy to grip, it is also VERY easy to get dirty! It cleans up well/easily with screen wipes, but you'll definately want to have clean hands when you play. Incidentally, the hinge part of the Lite is also that matte finished plastic, so the entire area between the trigger buttons (including the DS slot opening) is very prone to smudges and grime. Whatever, not a big deal but something to keep in mind.

Finally, the while exterior of the Lite has been compared to the iPod, I think I can safely say that it is more scratch resistant, by far. I've got two iPods ATM (60GB Photo and a 4GB Nano) and I use InvisibleShield on both of them - I mean, you even LOOK at the iPod wrong, and it scratches. But the DS Lite has thusfar remained scratch-free, and that's pretty impressive considering that it's brand new and has therefore been shown off to all my friends here in Tokyo - it's been handled quite a bit and I usually give it a quick wipe on my jeans/pants to remove fingerprints, etc - and still, no scratches. I'm sure it will happen eventually, but so far so good.

Sorry this post was so longwinded, but I hope the info helps ... ;)
