nah, I just paid some of my friends to come here and press F5 over and over again in this thread ... ;)

heh

Anyway I'm glad some people found this information useful, I imagine a lot of people will be buying Lites once they're released in the States/EU, so it's always nice to know in advance that it's going to work (and to have someone else do the guinea pig thing) ... :D

Yeahh but Tetris DS tread is catching up pretty fast, in only 2 days !!
Anyway I loved this tread, and a big thank you to Mavis once again, at least now I have a clear idea of what exactly I am going to do when the Lite comes to the States.
And one thing is for sure: before I get my DSlite I will patiently keep Metroid in the drower because as it is, on a regular DS I can't see a damn thing!!(or maybe my eyes are getting older...) :)

I NEED THE LITE

sneef

It's not your eyes!  I bought the cart, to play on my DS Lite, and then I put it on my wife's supercard for her to play on her regular white DS, and when I tried playing it on the regular DS, my eyes were quite strained to see certain enemies and landscape features..

it's much easier to see on the lite.  but i find that the L shoulder button is easier to press on the regular DS.. oh well

Yeah, I think I mentioned that earlier - it's my ONE complaint about the Lite - the trigger buttons were much easier to operate on the original DS ...

I find that I hit the L button too easily on my Lite, like when I don't want to. It seems to touchy. And my start and select buttons are really hard to press. They click really hard. Are yours the same way Mavis?

Those are my only complaints. Otherwise, I worship my DS Lite. :D

BTW, I ordered a Passkey 2 from winsunx, it will be here Monday morning. I really like the service from them so far. Great communication and fast shipping from China via UPS Express for only $17. And they only charge $20 for the Passkey2. I'll post back here with my impressions of it once I test it out.

I just flashed my DSLite as well. But it was horrible. It kept shutting off after I got past 20%. It was weird. I was plugged in and the battery was secure. I only hit the SL1 too. But good thing the 10% Emergency System was implemented. I went on to flash the entire thing.

I hope there's a FlashMe Lite version soon too. And I hope I don't have to revert back to original firmware first. I want the Emergency Flash System.

I'm eagerly awaiting flashme lite.. (or v.8 or whatever)  but until then, i got myself a passme 2-z, the one that's only a little longer than a normal game card.  at least it's small and i don't have to carry around some clunky huge thing to boot with. heh.

I can see how for most people, being stuck on the 2nd highest brightness wouldn't be a problem, but for me, I'm often playing in very dark conditions (darkened airplane cabin) or outdoors, so I need the adjustment.   :| waiting patiently.. *maybe not so patiently* heh..

I got the Passkey2 and I now have flashme 7 on my Lite. The unit is really well made. I have a (broken) Superpass2, a Magic Key 2, and the Passkey 2 and I have to say that the Passkey2 is the most well built of all of em. It's nicely made, works great and slides in and out of the cart slots perfectly. It was a little confusing to setup, but now I'm flasme'd with no worries.  ;)
Wow, all the games on the DS Lite look so nice, the screens make everything look so good. I've said it before, but I could never go back to the old DS. Ever.

Mavis,

Just found out my enamel blue has shipped!

So, I guess the question of the day, again, is ... any word on the DS Lite Flashme?  I fortunately own everything on my supercard, but I'd rather not RAIN all my saves back :)

Thanks, as always, for the intel.

Well I flashed my lite and it shut off after 1%

Any one got any ideas?, I have emailed Darkfader about ppflash and he seems to think the pinouts are different.

So i have a 2 day old DS lite brick

Uh oh, this seems to be happening quite a bit these days: http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3430 , for example. I also got an email from someone with a bricked DS Lite, too - I wonder if Nintendo has made some changes with the Lite to prevent flashing?

Perhaps the DSlite turns itself off when the SL1 short is lost? In other words, you might want to make extra sure you have good SL1 contact for the first 10% of flashing.

Mavis, maybe you could test this theory now that your DSlite is FlashMe "safe" ?

darkuni

If this turns out to be true, we need dedicated devices for shorting ... or better yet ... a "test" utility to practice with first .. get the connection JUST right, THEN hit a button to begin...

I agree with that idea 100%. It would be the perfect solution.

I placed a screw in the hole of my lite to short sl1, but it was a little wonky and I had to wiggle it. I lost contact several times but managed to get it 100%. So the lite does not shut down if SL1 contact is lost...

darkuni

Oh so during your flashing, you DID lose contact with SL1 and were able to finish?

Great!

Maybe if SL1 contact is lost for a period of time, say more than 10 seconds?  I don't know. I'm just trying to understand why people report their DSlite shutting off during flashing.  Are they making contact with some other part of the circuit board?
